This era of Eldia's domination continued for 1880 years. After that, there was the Great titan war. Karl Fritz was the king of Eldia who fleed to Paradis Island. He was not from the same era, so he couldn't have been married to Ymir lol. And it was only 100 years ago. It's him who used the Founding titan to built the Walls Maria, Rose and Sina, 100 years ago. Remember the peace within the walls last 100 years. There is a huge difference between 100 years ago, and 2000 years ago. So, our Ymir was named after Ymir Fritz, by a cult, but it was not her true name. And she is absolutely not Ymir Fritz. She was just a poor kid who was turned into a dump titan and had the chance to eat one of Reiner's comrades, who had one of the Nine. Purely by chance, she ate him and stole his powers. Our Ymir was turned into a dump titan in the year 1940 and turned back into a human, eating Marcel, 100 years after the foundation of the Walls.

To Reiner, "living there was like hell" because of the inner conflict he feels the whole time he was there, having to live with his victims and learning that they were just people as well. It was so bad that he developed a split personality from it. It's made more clear in this same scene in the manga, where it shows flashbacks of everyone having fun as he was describing Sasha and the others, and finally it shows Reiner, Berthold and Annie standing apart from everyone when he says that final line. It's the guilt that made it feel like hell.

eldians who live in marley are pissed because back in time the eldian king took some of his people and went to the island and built the 3 walls. but he left some eldians in marley. those people naturally feel abandoned and marleyans humiliated them for years, used them for war like they're not humans. so ofc these marley-eldians hate the island eldians and see themselves as good eldians.. the whole world recognizes our island as a threat
