We were "Running on Empty" from our last flight back from Iowa City with only just under 1hr of fuel left in the tanks. Of course I was good for day VFR reserves but it is still an un easy feeling. I love videos about flying (and boating) in my home state of Iowa. Yeah, I know. This is Florida, but... I'm going to watch all your videos. I have a Piper Archer II here at KAVQ. We also own a Sundancer 340DA up at Lake Powell. There's nothing better than flying, and boating! You guys are living the life!! Rick in Tucson. PS: Do you know Martin Pauly. I love his videos. He's from Cedar Rapids, where I learned to fly and got my instrument rating.... Like the Hawkeye shirt. I'm a Hawkeye for life.

I was going to make another video with the 4th of July fun in Okoboji but with the high water and no swim advisory we decided to truck an hour south to Storm Lake. What year 340? There’s a few of them at our dock, very nice boats!
@@Boji-Life Our 340 is a 2007. Only 200 hours on it. Just right for the two of us. The Piper is a 1979. 1500 TT. We're towing our camper back to Iowa in a little over a week. I'm concerned about the flooding there. Coralville Lake - Sandy Beach campground. I hope the weather will be good. Seems like every year there's bad storms the week of Oshkosh.
@@azcharlie2009 very low hour boat and plane! I’m not sure how bad the flooding is down that way, ours is starting to go down finally but it still has a loooong ways to go👎
I'm originally from Swisher. Flown into Iowa City many times. Sometimes I miss Iowa. But, not today... It's raining there today. About 103 here in Tucson. We'll be at Sandy Beach campground in about two weeks. Heading to Oshkosh and visiting family.
We are for the first time in many years, leaving Okoboji for the 4th. It sure is a weird year and a little bit depressing. Have a great time at Oshkosh, that is still on the bucket list. I have definitely partied in swisher back in my college days so I know right where you’re from😝 fly safe! And Thank for watching and subscribing, still trying to figure this You Tube thing out🫣😂

I absolutely love this Flight! The thing that had me laughing is you hear everyone else talking about pretzels being spilled on the floor, are the kids asleep, and here comes the pilot, look at that wind sock! I really laughed out loud on that one for real. Great video Brother! The other thing that I loved about it, I showed my wife who was still getting used to flying and our single engine, general, aviation aircraft, and showed her your wife who still feels I would say maybe slightly nervous in certain conditions. It helped explain to her that she’s not alone, sometimes things will happen, but it’s all gonna be OK. Exactly as you said, we’ve trained for this! Keep pushing out great content like this! I have subscribed! Take care, and fly well!
Thank you for the positive feedback. I would say my wife probably has around 300 hrs in the right seat and been through some pretty tough and rough situations. I was really surprised she got as nervous as she did but when you’re not in control of the situation and know there is a problem I can completely understand. On the content: it is very difficult here in Iowa to get the great content like the guys and gals down in Florida or out in the mountains, so I try my best to get some content out of each flight but still learning. Thank you for watching!
I fly up to spencer and the lakes all the time. We should go out to dinner and visit. Love seeing the Iowa content!

My grandpas got a mooney ovation and its autopilot does the same thing yours did. These are both a lot of Airplane to hand fly. But you kept your cool. Well done sir. It always makes me nervous seeing the vertical speed fluctuate Through every bump. Happy flying!

@@Boji-Life yep good luck. his autopilot will intercept VS and Altitude just fine but its like the nav and heading servos just went out. it is a kfc150 autopilot so its a little old. Good luck on your flights!

Easy fix, my man. Just tap on the flux capacitor’s glass covering and you’ll be good to go!
MX is thinking the ACU box🤷♂️ I’ll hopefully find out more tonight or tomorrow.
The plane does not have a flux sensor, it has been swapped out for a gps like antenna on the top of the fuselage.

I’ve grown up in a be58 a1977 and have both light speed and Bose’s and flow with my dad to Spencer many times. On headset issues every now and then ours will have noise in one ear like you had in video it’s always just been weird thing but never does it in a different airplane.
It seems to happen only when descending from about 5-6000 ft🤷♂️. Spencer is a great airport to fly into! I did about all of my ratings except for my multi out of there.

I will attempt to keep good content coming, but please bear with me as I have a couple videos that don’t have a whole lot of content that others would like to watch in them. This is all new to me😝

Very nice! I always go IFR🤷♂️ it’s nice when they hold my hand to the destination 🫣🫣👌 I would probably struggle through a flight following request only because I’m so used to my information being in the “system” already. Nice flight!

Trip was awesome, have a few more aviation edits to make but a couple videos will end up being the “family” side of things since that was some of the reason for filming. I didn’t realize there are so many people wanting to watch a guy and his family flying🤷♂️🤷♂️😂.
