We had a shareware version of this game where you could only play a certain amount of time. Absolutely loved playing it as a kid.
From a magazine? We didn't have this, I was a Sim City kid. But I did play other tycoon/management games!
@@MikeJolley yes it would have been a PC magazine with a free cd on the front. My two favourite of this type of game were transport tycoon and SIM tower.
Thanks for the video!
You're welcome!
i love this game best on gb.-.
it's up there alongside CV 2 and Kirby for me :)
Do you see the leds on the screen? In another video I could see 5 of the leds reflection on the top of the lcd that would annoy me like crazy. I will keep it oem until my bulb burns out.
No you cannot see LEDs. Its lighted evenly.
@MikeJolley strange in that video you could see them. Maybe they installed it wrong.
1,2, free
Where is part one?
I started it after Bio Miracle ua-cam.com/video/N8lq9fnLo6U/v-deo.html :)
How can you possibly claim this is done with a real NES. You've got a custom widescreen hack or filter or something (gross), and a custom controller. Don't lie to your 100 subscribers.
erm no you're wrong. I use my NES top loader and split the signal through Retrotink for capture. The capture is upscaled to 1080p, but I was playing on my PVM which is scart 240p.
hey, great run. Do you happen to remember what exact guide you used to apply the softmod / USB loader to your wii? Or at least the settings of your USB loader? Did you install the MM9 and Castlevania WAD files to internal storage or "emuNAND"? Because for some reason when I install them into emuNAND both mm9 and Castlevania do not show the visual thumbnail thing in the menu, but yours do.. makes me wonder if I followed the wrong guide. Thanks in advance
Hey thanks. I think I followed wii.hacks.guide and www.instructables.com/How-to-install-wad-files-on-a-Nintendo-Wii/ based on it being visited link :)
Sc-55 is still the boss, but the dream gs kit comes close.
Yeah it’s a great option with much lower barrier to entry.
I love super bonk
I have never heard of this game
I found it in my NES encyclopedia book. Never seen it for sale!
Jedi Arena looks like a CBS show Survivor.
I like KCBS-TV.
the struggle is real
Thats relatable
Potato
Chip
Butter
What's taters?
And of course one shows up as soon as you die
🙃
Such a weird and wonderful entry into the Super Mario franchise. Gameboy games were made to be short since the system's battery life was so awful, its also why a lot of non-RPG's also have saves and level selects.
Me too I never found this secret but the secret boss password was wrong
Committed to the craft
Did you turn the sound effects off? (just asking)
I can hear them, not sure what you're hearing :)
@@MikeJolleyoh sorry I can hear them now, sometimes the sound glitches
This is how you do a sound comparison. Quick back and forth between the different audio’s. Other UA-camrs should take note. Well done!
Thanks! Was fun to put together.
он одинаково на всем звучит
"it sounds the same on everything" This is kind of the point, DreamBlaster is a great budget alternative to the SC-55 ;)
If MIDI is an consortium and standard, why one sound, sounds better than others? MT-32 looks more brighter sounds than any other, like SB, Yamaha or even this dreamblaster?? Thanks for the video btw.
This game had support for MT-32 and general midi, so you're hearing Roland MT-32 vs General Midi from the SC-55. I agree the Roland is much nicer in this case! As for general midi, yeah its a standard but I think there are differences in how instruments sound depending on sound font. SC-55 in this comparison is an external sound module and those things are hefty and can be expensive, so the fact that the DreamBlaster is almost identical is really cool. If you run dxdiag you can compare the other software midi options as well. They pale in comparison.
Great video! But how did you connect the RGB (SCART) to S-VIDEO (NTSC) device to the back of your Commodore 1702?
You can get s-video cables for the C64. In my case that would be a PAL signal, hence the need to convert it to NTSC :)
I have the X2GS but seems that it doesnt sound nothing like this with either sound bank.
Strange. I was using the built in roland sound font for this video (not the user bank). Perhaps you didn't run Monkey Island with the correct parameters? It has options for soundblaster, adlib, or roland.
@@MikeJolley I was using r option. I have the original version, not the later talkie with general midi music.
I remember now, I patched my DOS version with the talkie edition. So I was still running on DOS but `r` was general midi, and `r1` was roland. Thats gonna be the reason why!
@@MikeJolley Great! Good to know, thanks!
Thanks for posting this. Have you noticed improved battery life?
I haven't had a long enough session to test it with and without. In theory it should though because the panel will be more efficient.
It makes a great difference. You can actually use this as a portable on 6AA rechargeable batteries and they last about 6-8 hours I reckon rather than 30 minutes.
@@bigd5090 I definitely need to do this then. Appreciate it.
@@bigd5090 I been using rechargeable aa batteries with oem backlight and screen and have played around 2 hours and batteries still dont need a charge yet.
@@chriss4365 The OEM bulb is a mini fluorescent tube which is a massive battery drain. You at least double the battery life. I wouldn't even try to run an OEM Game Gear on batteries! With the upgrade it feels like using the original Game Boy!
Good video, short and to the point but I can barely hear you with that terrible music going over your voice.
Thanks, I've changed mic since :)
This game had a lot of hidden subtle comedic moments. I just loved playing these even when other people had much better computers, I'd still be playing these kinda games.
Yes indeed. Two point hospital is the modern equivalent if you like this genre.
this game was really famous in my country. dunno why
I see a lot of similarities to Yoshi's Island here. I never played this game, but I played the hell outta Yoshi's Island
I never played or knew about the game. But the soundtrack is really good
One of my faves on NES now! Too bad I'll never own a physical copy, its silly price.
thanks for doing this comparison. it looks like even the clean screen is losing a lot of the dithering effects. the vertical poles in the walls in darker colour are round a smooth in og. looks like same colour as wall with black stripes in the emulator, plus bad scaling in the clean screen. the dark buildings in the background are almost black with windows with a slight blue glow. in the other 2 they look like giant blue buildings with light blue windows. many other things are wrong like the doors, the brick walls, the shadows under the platforms... sorry but i am keeping the og screen maybe with a backlit mod only. the og lcd screen is almost like a CRT. Technically inferior in many ways, but its the only way to display the image properly as originally intented.
Keep up the hardwork itll pay off! Took me a few years but at 51k!
Love old retro games
Interesting
Do you sell the part with the battery already installed?
No, there are a bunch of the correct batteries on ebay.
Dreamcast worked fine before this and now won’t power on. Any advice?
For me is so much hardest to beat the boss i losed much Times 🥵🥵🥵🥵
This took a bunch of tries to get the hang of it. Best to attack them as soon as possible before they get too many attacks off!
Show us ur sausege
I played this game but i never found this secret, how you do It?
You have to beat the basketball mini game throughout the main game. When you win it gives you a number. 4 digits are needed for the keycode at the end of the game.
Thanks
Thank you so much
Been looking for this comparison, thanks.
Mega Man 2 is the perfect test game, still one of the best ever. Looks like your collection there is really good! Love the Ninja Turtles shirt too!
Hey thanks! And yeah it is! Good one to jump into real quick, and best in the series 😎
@@MikeJolley I 100% agree!
Game name?
This is Shinobi II: The Silent Fury on Game Gear!
I'm looking for a solution too, but when i saw the Panasonic dvd i checked out ;-)
Yeah that didn't work out. It reduced the quality too far. The other devices were better.
One of my favorite games in the arcade and NES!
always knew i was super :)
you are not super
🔥
Nicely done, keep on going😊
Thanks for the video, yes I also think the Buran bank shines in this track !
SC-55 has been boxed away for now :)
I think the MT-32 really steals the show here. Games from the period of Monkey Island were just built with the MT-32 in mind more than anything. Later on the SC-55 would have been better. I will say the differences between the X2GS are mostly just down to stuff like reverb and chorus which can be adjusted through software that Serdaco provides. Personally I see no reason for most people to get an SC-55 at this point unless they just have a nostalgic yearning for a real midi box. Great comparison video, by the way!
Yup, agree with that. X2GS surprised me how accurate it was. I have not played with the reverb settings too much as I had some issues with some games (Transport Tycoon) when adjusting those settings, but yeah, for most users it seems to be a much better choice than SC-55. I'll do some more comparisons in the future with games that have better MIDI soundtracks. Thank you!
Definitely. I prefer the MT-32 here
Do I need to replace the dead battery?
Nope, only if you care about the date/time when you start it up.
Ahaha... I still have that chunk of plastic. 😂
It is a beautiful hunk of plastic though 😅
