I know you posted this a while back, but if anyone else wants to know I am very happy with Ableton Standard Edition. it doesn't have all the samples of Studio, but it does have a solid basic instrument set as well as many useful plugins and unlimited everything else. Just FYI

the one that comes with the apc is the demo in a cd its basically the same thing as the reg ableton live 8 but you cant save any of your projects, and suite has more sounds built in thats what i use, it has dnb sounds dub, dubstep, hip hop its awsome but on youtube they have the cracked version, thats what i di (not payn 800$ )

I think this video alone is enough to make me buy an APC40. I'm a rookie at making beats/music/dubstep, etc. I've always wanted to do it but haven't had the fundulations to buy an APC40. Now that I do, I'm definitely going to pick one up. Any tips for a beginner?

@AudioNinjaJacob huge learning curve but don't get demotivated. i got my apc 40 last july(2011), started working with ableton around the same time.after 7 months, i can do a lot of crazy shit, shit i didnt believe i could ever do. it took me so long coz, i'm lazy and went not working on my DAW for weeks, thats not good. if you spend a solid half hour everyday, in three months time you can get pretty good at it. the apc40 is the most brilliant toy a person could have.
