Don't know about America but here in Australia air ambulance helicopters do take more care during take off and landing. That landing for a military purpose is okay definitely not for medical retrieval missions

For anyone with a military connection to these birds you never get over the reaction of seeing/hearing them. I was an Army Reserve Nurse and much of our training at Ft. Polk was with these guys. Hubby was also an SIP back in the day and I miss the sound of those overhead at Ft. Rucker, Ft. Campbell, Ft. Kobbe…..beautiful.

I was the "casualty" during a pre-deployment training exercise. I was surprised when it lifted off, and when it banked, I tried to look over my feet, and out the window, but the G-force would not allow me to lift my head!

Best job I ever had, I crewed Blackhawks for 18 years. I got to crew on assault and medivac. Both had their benefits and roles, but I really enjoyed medivac so much more.
