@8:10 - Man, I really hope you aren't dumping on Dark Descent here. As brilliant as Alien Isolation is, Dark Descent is to Aliens what Isolation is to Alien. It's a fantastic game that captures the vibe of Aliens like no other before it. That it can generate dread with an overhead cam is very impressive. Any superfan of Aliens should be able to see how cleverly they integrated concepts from Aliens into the gameplay of DD. These are the two best Alien franchise games as well as two of my favorite games ever.

I put 200 hours in before I realized that Starfield wasn't going to deliver what I was looking for. I haven't taken the time to really analyze what exactly that is, but it just makes me feel... empty.

I hope the sequel combines both the comics from dark horse named aliens defiance and aliens resistance some really cool shit in them altho in resistance there is one part of the comic which is laughable and shouldn’t even be considered to be in the game if CA decide to go the comic route

it would be such a cool start for the sequel if Amanda boards the ship the same time the one drone at the end of AI. She knows this and the game kicks into high gear trying to find it while people go missing and may be the ship crash lands on a moon of the gas giant (LV-223?). lets hope we get a good sequel to this timeless masterpiece!!

It was finally announced to have a sequel in the works. here's hoping it's good. On your point of making the sequel like the Aliens movie... I think they could pull it off but, I wonder if they did give you a Pulse Rifle, something actually capable of killing an Alien... Maybe you only get a set amount of ammo for it in a playthrough. Less than you'd need to kill an Alien in every encounter with one. Maybe they would only give you enough ammo to kill maybe 5 if you were a good shot. I think that'd be a clever and terrifying way of incorporating a bit of power fantasy... Until the mag runs dry and you hear the clicking of the empty gun as you desperately try to fire more rounds. Of course, this means the optimiser type of players would just save the ammo for the most annoying/frustrating encounters with Aliens. But that already happened in Isolation with the flamethrower so I don't think anything would be lost.

Its funny everytime we find a new skip or strat we always go, yea this category is now 100% optimised, then a few weeks later we find something new.

2:00 ish... just because people dont like the mechanics.....doesnt mean people dont like the mechanics AND THATS GOOD!!! . id rather have a niche game that does what it does REALLY WELL (red orchestra 1 and the horror of the eastern front in WW2) than a game that tries to appeal to EVERYONE 8 to 88 years old . if you dont like the mechanics your opinion is still valid games just not for you (maybe its the latest COD/BF) but a person who hates COD/BF might love this game...... and thats valid also . . idk.... i think reviewers like IGN dont quite understand that sometimes i dont like a LOT of modern games.... they just "dumb it down and speed it up to appeal to the masses" . even my beloved Red orchestra fails this..... 2 is dumbed down and sped up VS 1. i hope STALKER 2 doesnt..... (if its as "unique" (but also as polished) as metro 2033 original.... im fine with it last light started the "dumb it down and speed it up" and i havent played the 3rd game....

I love this game so much. Going for PBs on Nightmare and the DLCs is a lot of fun.

So a week ago I finished this game. Finished Finished. 100 Percented all achievements. Toughest thing ive ever done but i'm very proud. Nothing is gonna top Alien Isolation for me.

So comprehensive, very demure. What stands out most to me is the sheer amount of speed running dedication that has went into what many would may say is a niche game. How do you think the the speed running community of this game stacks up against other more well known titles like Halo for example?

Using the Wallace and Gromit theme while explaining the plot of Aliens is some weird tonal whiplash

I think the story for the sequel should follow Ransome - the Seegson executive largely responsible for the outbreak on Sevastopol, who got abandoned by Weyland Yutani. The idea would be that Ransome got off the station with an alien specimen, trying to sell it to a rival corporation. He gets captured by Weyland Yutani and frees the specimen in order to escape - causing another outbreak.

And that's it. Release your expectations and just play the game. Stop trying to force it to be what you want it to be, and see it for its own thing that it is. That's where I found my satisfaction. Now I can spend hours just scanning, mining and selling like a space trucker. May be boring to others, but it has found this place of relaxation for me. The negativity that so many have for this game is that they can't let go of this idea of intellectual ownership for something that was never theirs in the first place. I can't describe this sense of entitlement that so many games (not all) seem to exude when they don't get what they want. Do they even know what they want?

Not every game needs a sequel. You basically got two games with this anyways. Once with an alien, and once with synthetics.
