The Quick - Down The Wire
This is the video to 'Down The Wire' by The Quick from 1985. They had a minor hit with 'Rhythm Of The Jungle' in 1982. Apologies for the not-so-good quality as it's taken from an old video tape.

This track by Ronnie Bond is from an old Levi's TV commercial. The track reached No 52 on the UK singles chart in 1980.

Remember this in the Levis ad - a real banger !
Except he they changed "easy" to 'Levis" .... (at the end)
Love the commercial but cant find it on the internet. Bought this record 1980! Always wondered what he is singing here instead of "if you´re the Levis kind"? "The leasing kind?? "The easy kind"?
Thanks, I have the 7inch single of this.
Listening in the year 2022
'DAMN'..... Great single !!🤩
This was so great... Dancing on the bar music...
Still the best forever
love this, had the 7" back in the day, also, dont be a dummy by numan..
What a cool tune, don't care how old you are, that song is cool
This song slaps!
Bought this back in 1980 - great memories
The b side to this, naked in the sun, is also great, any chance of putting it on here too ?
Great song should have been a hit here in the UK
Finally! I heard this song from the old Levi ad and then again once on the radio when I was at school. It's only taken me 39 years to identify it!
Adored this record as a nipper and I’m loving it all over again!! Totally rocks!!
why are they both singing lead when its not really even two vocals happening?
I'd forgotten about this little gem! I bought it back in 1980, and still have it somewhere.
The commercial this is from seems to be on youtube now... ua-cam.com/video/JzrBGXnxQ0o/v-deo.html
A massive song in my life ive been hunting it 30 plus years now, my father ordered it from W H Smiths on vynal
Bought this on the 18,6,1980 just past my driving test still got it on 45 think it was around 68 in the charts should have been a massive hit single great song
Yes, there are definitely two Ronnie Bonds, this one was not with The Troggs as i found out when i spoke to him a few years ago. Good New Wave song which i assisted in making it climb the charts in 1980 by buying it in the Rainbow Record store on the Precinct in Holmes Chapel. I believe it was also Radio One's record of the week. Ronnie Bond also composed "Don't Be A Dummy', a hit for John Du Cann, also used in a jeans commercial. Must be something in his 'genes'.
Levi's commercial from 1982 shown in US TV. Shot in Los Angeles
Den bästa reklamlåten ever!
I was waiting for days in a p2p for the guy who has it to enter so i can download it ! Later i found it in 45" single and bought it !
..................... why not wireless , .......................
This was as close to a hit as anything the Troggs did after 1968 even though I know it's a solo effort by their drummer. I don't understand why the Troggs got totally ignored after the 1960's. Some of their 70's and 80's stuff was good.
I agree. Black bottom album from 1981 is great. But this is not the drummer of The Troggs; only same name.
You need to correct Wikipedia then. Even before that, I'd read that Ronnie Bond of the Troggs wrote this.
Maybe, Dan; but the information in "Wikipedia" is unreliable many times.
*Isla de fuego Producciones* _I tend to go with your opinion, but at the supplied link ,at the back of this silly record sleeve is picture of a white middle aged guy who might have some resemblance to the erstwhile Troggs drummer....who did a few great vocal tracks with The Troggs on their first album.... >> www.discogs.com/Ronnie-Bond-Its-Written-On-Your-Body/release/514904 <<
great tune,takes me back,brilliant.
Thanks for posting. The song has been in my head since seeing the ads in my childhood.
Having to get rid of a lot of vinyl, listing this on eBay now, 12"!
i used to love this song (still do actually). i only learned recently that giant steps was the same guys, different name, different sound! "another lover" was a big hit here in the US.
Ah takes me back....
got the Learn To Dance Mix 12" version of this on vinyl
This was my first ever Metal album.......it was given to me. This album spoke to my soul. Still does. And to find out Rock Feinstein is cousins to my all time fave singer, RJD. I mean, how much better can it get, I ask??? Now to get them to Texas to rock out all of these hillbillys.
Have they got another version of this song?
Have they got another version of this song?
Haven't heard this in so long, love this version! Thank you!
Looking for a lost song by the same name i think somewhere between 1986 - 1987 Starts of by something like " Dap Dap Dap Dap Da Da Dap"
I partied with Colin back in 1987 in Fulham England. (at Paul's house) He had a lovely girlfriend at the time.
Great tune never got the air play,or the recongnition
The edgy and modern production here is by Cure bassist Phil Thornalley.
This is NOT Ronnie Bond of The Troggs
I agree with you, Hans.
Yes it is. It was his only solo single.
@@andyelliott8027 No it isn't this Ronnie Bond was an American singer..
@@anthonymclean9743 There seems to be no record of an American singer called Ronnie Bond anywhere, who was he? Was he American ?
@@andyelliott8027 There's videos of the American singer Ronnie Bond on UA-cam he did a couple of advert jingles.
Bought this on a 12 inch extended version after hearing it on Radio 1 in 1985. A brilliant track with great singing and a classy and creative production . Very much in the Go West "We close our eyes" mould, featuring loads of tasty overdubs using gated Synth and Guitar riffs all over the place. This song is melodic and has a great big pair of balls as well! - which was pretty unusual for that period. Many thanks for posting this. .
GOOD!
WOW! LUV THESE GUYS AND ALWAYS CAME OUT TO SEE THEM WHEN THEY CAME TO ALBANY N.Y.
ronnie is alive and kicking played in my bar tonight ..lol...best live ive heard for ages !!
@dancingchris55 Unfortunately, Ronnie Bond died in 1992.
@vidzplease Hiya, I copied it off a PolyGram VHS tape called 'Don't Watch That, Watch This - Volume 3' which also includes Go West, Dire Straits, Tears For Fears , Propaganda, The Cult and such like from 1985 but those videos are already on youtube. Glad you enjoyed it :)
Where did you find this!?!?!?!?!?! I have hundreds of VHS tapes and could've sworn I recorded the video in '85, but I haeven't found it. I searched UA-cam off and on and today during one of those on periods I find your post. Amazing! I was having an 80's flashback after watching Bow Wow Wow
que grandes mis amados the quick hermoso disco 10 de 10 :D .!!
it was a hit in it's own way
