This video shows how to ink up and print a reductive black and white monotype using a baren and etching burnisher. The video also shows how to print the ghost print (leftover ink on the plate).
Tyy for saving my projectttttt❤❤❤
Great demo. Thanks.
Are you using water based printing inks?
I use water-based Akua inks on the gel plates and tend to use oil-based inks on plexi.
Thanks, gets me thinking.
Nice Melissa!
-I worder why you didn,t either mention -or tell anything about the baren? Otherwise fine.
What size of the plate are you using? Or ink type, colours? Your video needs a bit more explained details, written below or texted. Nice and lovely work!
I’m using the 12” Speedball gel plate with Akua inks.
Good instructions !
THANK YOU MELISSA YOU SAVED MY ART PROJECT
Amazing monotype technique !❤

Good tutorial! I love the look of this. BTW, instead of using paper towels you can use aged newspaper. After a few months, the print doesn't come off.
Just don't use Japanese rice paper. Mine stuck to the paint and shredded when I picked it up. Too absorbent maybe.
I was thinking about buying one of these gel plates to use with CMYK separations made with a laser printer to make prints of photographs on canvas. Do you think it would be possible? I can't see why it wouldn't. You are the only person I've found doing this with these plates. Tons of useful info in this vid. Need to watchnit again. Thanks.
Just seeing this now----I would think it would work! Let me know!
How do you keep from getting roller lines? I don’t like the lines.
It can be tricky. Just keep going over it or use a bigger roller with large diameter to keep from getting roller marks.
This video would benefit from editing. If it's about stencils, show stencils. Viewers don't need to see every minute step, just show the general process without making us watch rolling, inking, rubbing.........................................................
Thanks for the feedback but this was for a class so I wanted to show them all the steps.
I love all of your content! Thanks for sharing all of your skills and creativity. I teach at my studio so will be using your techniques w my students.
Interesting information very doable with a artists limited finical budget....many art blessing to you today...
A bit late, but thanks for this!
I never realised you could do this with watercolour and no press roller. Can you use thicker watercolour paper? I don't have 'Japanese' paper.
Sorry I didn't get back sooner. The only problem you may have with thicker watercolour paper is the texture. It might not print smoothly. I would try it and see! : )
@@melissaharshman6562 thanks Melissa. I will have a go!
Perhaps try smooth hot press
Clear, concise and engaging! TFS these basics that are so often overlooked in other printmaking videos. Very helpful.
Fun video! Just subbed!
