Navman, test van NavBus data naar Repeater, dit van de data van de Navman 3150 wind en de data van de Navman 3100 speed. Als van een van de instrumenten de inkomende data mist, bv de wind info of speedlog info dan werkt het Repeater instrument niet naar behoren en is dat ook direct te zien aan de 3150 wind. Van het aan wijs instrument blijft de naald dan strak naar 0 graden /noord wijzen.

Hello, i have the same instruments , but the wind meter is not working. I belive its 12v but the signal sensor from the windmeter(anemometer) is 4-20ma or 0-5v? Can you help?
Hello good evening, the windunit from VDO works with two signals two sinus waves, with a different of 90° degrees. Between 2 and 8 V. But when your wind set is not working, this can mean that your windgaug is defective or the windunit has a defect. We can test and repair them for you. With best regards William

@@wvotterloo5408 it doesn't display the angles correctly. When the indicator is angled 90° starboard it displays 60° starboard. When the indicator is angled 180° it displays 120° starboard. When the indicator is angled 90° port it displays about 120° port. The wind speed is working fine though!
@@curler24 then there is a problem with the Electronics off the windangle, is it possible to sent your unit to us? But you also can have problem with your windgauge, do you use a windgauge from the early '80?

Mijn Navman 3100 multi geeft geen snelheid meer aan. Nu heb ik nog een Airmar log liggen met 4 aders ipv 7 of 8. Weet u wellicht of dit te gebruiken is dit de kleuren van de kabels aan elkaar te koppelen?
Beste, de multi log van Navman heeft zo veel aders door dat de temp. en snelheid wordt weer gegeven. De airmar gevers maken gebruik van NMEA techniek (digitaal)en de log gevers van Navman zijn analoog. Heeft u de gever zoals op onze foto/filmpje. I am repairing my Navman W100 masthead unit. Can you show close-up views of the printed circuit board and orientation of the hall effect sensors? There is not much information about the W100 online and the closest I have found is for the Navman 3150 which is similar but with significant differences.

The VDO windunit needs 6 wires, but when you have mast Longer than 12 meters you better use a mastcable with 8 wires. 2 wires in parallel 1 in parallel with the plus and 1 in parallel with the min. Wirh regards William

Hello, i have same instruments (i think mid 80's, your 2 and 3 from left) anyway, the direction indikátor work fine, but the speed indicator has stopped working. Still shows 0. I tried clean it up and even worked a while ! But now same problem. Its possible to fix it ? Thank you fromt the reply. Martin
Hello Martin, How did you clean it up, from the outside or did you pull out the complete pcb. With regards William
the wind direction (inner coil) looked fine and working. But the speedometer is impossible to disassemble without damage (I only took off the windcups and saw only the shaft) we used the IPA And littlebit silicone lubricant. Can I send photos but where?
I misunderstand myself. indicators are fine I hope. but we had suspected an anemometer from the top, now we tried to clean it.

It would be great to have a NMEA2000 to analog interface for these. I like displays with hands. There is no better way to show a trend than with a moving hand.

Hi, I'm going to replace the old VDO unit type 1 I repaired many times by changing bearings and anemometer cups by myself. It's at end-of-life because the cylindric plastic container has begun disintegrating and the anemometer cups flew away with the shaft. I've found from Stowe Marine a compatible sensor unit new with a new cable, but it has a different mounting method on the top of the mast that requires the drilling of two new holes there (were it is not so easy to be a precise craftsman when I'm hanging from a haliyard sitting on a banzigo). I'm wondering if it is possible to reuse the mounting flange of the old unit (the one with the arched loops to fine adjust the mounting direction) but I haven't the flange dimension, especially the width of the flange, in order to understand if I can arrange the base of the new unit (that has 30mm width) by fixing it on top of the old flange (with a comfortable work done at ground level and not at the mast top) and reuse the comfortable arched loops to fine adjust the MHU. Do you have the dimensions or drive me to a manual/pdf to recover them ? Many thanks in advance. Regards. Daniele Pazzaglia

HalloI have the same instruments on my boat. After many years of operation, the wind speed sensor has failed. It is broken. I tried to fix it without success. If you can help me, you may know what kind of newer transducer I can connect to these 3 analogue instruments. The wind speed meter has a 3 pin connector + 12v, -, input. Hallo again There is no way to fix my wind speed sensor. The plastic is broken, the electronics is destroyed. I'm thinking of getting another wind sensor, and plug it into an existing instrument. Maybe you know what kind of signal the transducer is sending to the instrument. In my opinion, there should be a square signal, with varying frequency, but I do not know what amplitude is. Hi William, I have noticed your passion for VDO wind instruments over the years and need some assistance, if possible. I have an analogue VDO wind instrument (mid 80's) and instruments. I have bought new vane and wind cups, however the magnet inside is broken. Do you have any spare magnets or have any advice on what type of replacement magnet I need? The manual focuses on wiring but not this amount of detail. I can upgrade the whole system but if the magnet can be replaced, this will be a considerably cheaper option. Regards, Al

Hi William, yes, that is correct. I have the shaft that the wind cup screws on to but the magnet that resides between the bearings (that works with the reed valve?) and the sleeve between the shaft and the magnet is damaged. Regards,Al

Hello Peter, thanks for your response, yes it is very nice engine. We did the revision entirely. the starter, the dynamo, new bearings where necessary. new diesel pump, new cylinder head gaskets, new springs at the valves, all needed to replace is replaced or cleaned and finally painted the engine again. The result is what we expected, greetings William

Thanks for the answer William, I tryed fix it with a hot air pistol but the results are poor (only a few segments power on) Here can't achieve acquire the lcd or flex, so i'll buy a new one later. Thanks again for your time, cheers!
Hello chuslp1, i know some people try to fix the connection with hot glue an you did try it with hot air, the problem is on the LCD site and not on the PCB site. Hello Frederic, The signal from the VDO wind unit type 2, can provide two Wind meter sets. So this signal can be used by your original analog set and in parallel to the VDO Logic Wind meter.
