    in breath of the wild, a lot of the ruins you find are old towns that were there before the calamity, and when the guardians were all taken over they burned down all these towns. A lot of locations in botw were also references to older characters from the other games, like mido swamp and malin bay (referencing malon). One of these ruins happened to be rauru villiage, and because the tears of the kingdom don't care for the pre-established zelda lore they also named a key character rauru for some reason. This is also why they have all the amiibo gear from botw as just armor you can get, because they don't care about plot holes or making anything make sense compared to the rest of the timeline. Man nintendo sucks. As for the lost woods, the fog is in a big dome over the whole thing, because the game wants you to take the specific path to get to the korok forest, and if the void out zone covers it all then you cant, for example, try to swim up into the forest. Thank you for coming to my ted talk. great video, I like your editing style!

      I'm guessing they were trying to go a different and new route with the whole Zonai storyline. It was definitely a step away from the traditional Zelda storyline, but even after finishing TOTK, I feel like the Zonai are still a bit of a mystery. The two games are so different when it comes to lore and backstory, despite taking place in the same world. Anyways, thanks for commenting, I appreciate it!

      Rauru has been a recurring name since zelda II, where it was a name of a village, in fact a number of sages from OOT are named after those villages, see: Saria, Nabooru, Darunia, Ruto, and MIDOro swamp. Nintendo has always kept up the theme of using names of places and notable NPCs as easter eggs/reference, were they ever planned to be a part of some greater timeline? i doubt it was the case at first, just nods to connections between each game to make Hyrule feel cohesive and delight the players that cared to notice do I think it's lazy? nah not inherently. do I think they retconned Rauru for the Zonai narrative of TOTK? I'd be hard pressed to believe it was a simple cop out. I am more of a mind that they left themselves a number of loose ends at the end of BOTW to pick up from and I theorize the fan reaction/speculation/theorizing led credence to what direction they ultimately went. The mystery of the Zonai was exciting to an incredible number of fans and I think they listened. Rauru has been referenced as both a village in Zelda II and as a sage of Light in OOT, the whole point of Hyrule is that legends live on despite the time that passes, so the idea of a village being named after the FIRST king and sage of Light is not out of the question. and I mean like. Nintendo aren't fucking saints, they can suck a peanut for all I care, but when it comes to game design, and that classic Nintendo Polish, I don't think they'd be so incompetent as to not put these things into consideration. lol anyway thank you for your ted talk, I hope you enjoy mine as well.

    The weird unnamed island is nicknamed “mountain crow island” by the Zelda lore community because of the unusual amount of crows nesting there that supposedly are the ones collecting the sticks, arrows, and flint used for building nests. I think I first heard about it from this old fact video around the 5 min mark (apologies for posting a link in a comment, I promise im not spam promoting, I’m just trying to find where I first heard it so I don’t sound crazy! ua-cam.com/video/bl_wot2oFOI/v-deo.htmlsi=C6Qy-8-UVILS9UJh

    That very first part made me think how it's always a little unsettling to stand somewhere and look at the land beyond Hyrule. I wonder who lives there, how they look like, if they are aware of what's happening, even if there's anyone at all. I feel that the openness of the map and the sudden "You can't go any further" message clash and that irritates me. I know the map limits need to exist, and devs couldn't just add a whole entire world. But knowing there are other Zora domains, for example, makes me wonder and yearn to explore, and being confined to the map is kind of sad. Anyway, Lightcast Island is really cool indeed, and Akkala is probably my favorite province and all the ruins also make me wonder what stood there once. I've always felt like the center of the spiral was a temple or shine of sorts, considering how it has a shine and then the tear. It feels sacred, somehow.

    • @AdamantiumC
      @AdamantiumC 3 дні тому

      I agree with everything you just said. The outside world beyond BOTW/TOTK Hyrule is mysterious, and there has to be living people outside Hyrule because certain NPCs appear in TOTK that were nowhere to be seen in BOTW and also because of the other Zora Domains, which I think Sidon's fiancée Yona is from. It is a little upsetting to have all that land outside the borders of Hyrule, but for it to just be empty and without any backstory or lore.

    • @DarkwaveMistress
      @DarkwaveMistress 3 дні тому

      @@AdamantiumC yeah, if we had gotten some lore it wouldn't feel so empty. Yona's short backstory was a perfect opportunity to give us something, unfortunately I think the devs were too focused on the building portion that they left aside the story in general. I like totk's story but I'm still a little unimpressed by the Zonai. I would have left them as a mystery and focused on the Hyrule of the present, or fully committed and sent Link to the past (pun intended).

      The depths are usually overlooked since it is pretty repetitive (copy-and-paste) and not that important to the story of the game, so some unique locations would most likely be missed unless someone is exploring a lot or going for 100%

      @AdamantiumC they could've done so much more with the depths. All the hidden places and unique areas that could've had temples added with unique enemies. But no, Nintendo for whatever reason decided to leave it as just a resource gathering area. Not for exploration

Observing them…doing what?” Why is there a huge lake when usually there is only depths water by wellsprings and scared areas matching surface springs? Why the huge unique architecture instead of a copy/paste zonal building????? Then I go back to sleep.
