That 25 psi difference between compressor and aux tank IS a big deal! Also that 100 foot hose is losing a ton of power. Just put the compressor next to the truck on a very short hose and you'll see better performance.

Awesome video! I have the same Kobalt compressor and have been toying around with the idea of adding extra capacity. Only thing to look out for is the pump itself will take longer to fill up both tanks, and they are usually designed for a low duty cycle. I saw on another video someone said they burned out their compressor because it took too long to fill both tanks together. Edit: Just checked the owners manual and saw we have a temp switch to shut compressor off if it gets over heated...This should be good go! Still recommend it? I think I will do this!

i know its not the cheapest option but buying another air compressor with high cfm low capacity and adding that to the aux tank in combonation with your existing air compressor is probably your best bet at a more efficent compressor system its still cheaper than buying a 10 cfm tank

I recently sold my 30Gal compressor thinking it was too big to be portable and too small to run big tools and I bought a 6gal compressor. I bought the small one because it only takes a fraction of the time to fill up. After using the air wand to blow dust around I immediately regretted selling the one with the big tank. Years ago I had a small 5 or 6 gallon air tank that I hardly used so when we moved I didn't keep it. Live and learn right?! Geez. SO now I am wanting to add a second tank for when I need to blow dust and crap but I am also concerned about having the smaller motor and it having a much shorter life. I mean doubling the tank size is using the compressor twice as much and halfling the usage life. Or do I just say screw it and let it run with what I have and when it dies just buy a bigger one like I should have kept... Thats the cheaper option.

I commented above, but I have the same compressor in this video and it has a temp cut off switch to prevent over heating. If yours does not, it could wear out the motor faster. If that is fast enough to make a noticeable difference depends on how often you use it. I would probably let it fill everything up, and wait a few minutes to let it cool before getting to work if you are concerned. All that being said, your small motor will either run a fewer number of cycles, but each cycle being longer to fill up bigger tanks, or run a shorter cycle more frequently filling smaller tanks more often. Then you get the "opportunity" to re-upgrade to a bigger one!

It is a more or less common issue. My speakers used to do that too.
