Just a brief one, maybe. The pronunciation of the town Waltham was originally pronounced Wal thum, accent on first syllable, by the British. The Watch Factory employed many people from Nova Scotia who came down here in the winter to work in the factory and would return to Nova Scotia in the summer to farm. The Canadians could not pronounce the British Wal thum, there is no "th" in French language, so it then became wall- thaaam, not Walthum. I am working on public art projects here in Waltham that will incorporate themes of Waltham history. Check out the Waltham Room at the WPL
