Paper & Plastic Bead Skeleton Marionette Part 2
This video shows you how to make a simple, kid-friendly skeleton marionette puppet almost entirely with a cardboard tube and a few rolled paper and plastic beads. Part 1 showed how to make the puppet itself, this part will show how to add the control strings and face and rib details. This is one of the projects in our Summer Design Challenge for Kids. Instead of beans what we will use please reply
If you need a substitute for the plastic beads, you can try to make your own with a simple homemade clay recipe. You can check out this project I just found on a site called red ted art: www.redtedart.com/salt-dough-recipe-beads/. All you need are flour, salt and water. Hope this helps.
I made a marionette with balsa wood. Easy to carve and light. Basically the same string layout as shown. For joints I used cloth. It wasn't half bad in my opinion. Try it. It isn't hard.
