      Did you fertilize with enough potassium and phosphorus? Consistent watering is the key and keep soil moist. Loquat usually flowers during the Fall season and turn into fruits over the winter, what is your climate like? Fruits will die or fall off if under 25 degrees F. Thanks. First time I heard that you should cut off the flesh around the woody center where the stem touches the growing media. I see that occurring naturally on several of mine. The bottom rotted away 1-2 inches from the bottom, but the hard core was still in the media and the plant remained healthy. On a couple of them (mostly the yellow pitayas) however, it looks like the rot has worked its way up the plant and will eventually kill it.

    • @GreenMangoes
      @GreenMangoes 3 місяці тому

      For the most part, it would be okay. However like you said there is always a risk of the rot worked its way up and worse when it gets diseases.

    I have one I got from our honey bee keeping club president, as a cutting in 2012. It is about 10 feet tall, it blooms every year in late Fall, and the honeybees love it. It has had fruit on it, but they never make it, we get a frost and it kills them. I knew them from growing up in Florida, people had them in their yard, and we would pick up fruits that was on, or around the sidewalk, loved them.

      Have you tried fertilizing with Bone Meal or fertilizer with high phosphorus like Scott Super Bloom in mid summer to late summer and help inducr flowering early. That way the flowers and fruits can make it before frost. And when you have anad frost, throw cover on top.
