@eurodancer987 This power plant was under construction. The nuclear fuel rods are inserted only after the power plant is fully completed and has passed all the safety tests and acquired certification. There has NEVER been any nuclear fuel in this plant.

20110312 - worked at Marble Hill for PSI utility about 30 years ago. Continued on w/ a position at Braidwood NPS in Illinois until 1992 I think. Got out of the nuke industry, it was dying a slow dead. My wife & I were at NCAA tourney in Louisville yesterday and decided to see if we could find it. Electric rates will triple or more in next 8 years and shortsighted decisions ruin our grandchildren future. I will go to my grave knowing that nuke power was one of the keys to this country's success.

I worked at the facility for two summers as an Engineering Coop. While I was anti nuke in high school, I became more neutral as I worked with the dedicated and hard working engineers. However, what people forget is it wasn't just 3 mile island and honeycomb concrete that killed it, it was the 18% interest rates too.

Rest in peace and thank you for serving and protecting your community! Our little town has had so much going on lately! Lets hope 2010 is better!
