SCUBA Diving Raja Ampat (4K)
SCUBA diving and drone video from Raja Ampat in January 2023 in West Papua. We dove from the beautiful SCUBA Yacht GAIA Love over 11 days of day and night diving. Beautiful video of all types of fish, invertebrates, sponges, soft and hard corals and so much more. Beautiful manta rays and mobulas.
Also some incredible drone footage of the reefs and jungles of these amazing islands.
Special thanks to Rudy and Paule Trogh and Po When for their amazing macro still photography. Also a thanks to Dr. Shaneel Shantri for sontributing some of his drone video at the opening of this video.
All underwater video in this movie was show with a GoPro 11 with two Sola800 video lights. Backscatter filters and 15mm nacro were also used with the GoPro.

Short video of me getting attacked by a Titan Triggerfish in Raja Ampat. A female protecting her nest, they are one of the most aggressive reef fish known. As I learned on the boat, they attack within a cone that starts at their nest and goes to the surface. I was lucky that she only got my fin. A diver in my group surfaced to get away from her and was not so lucky, shown at end.

Great dive today at Mixing Bowl, Bloody Bay Wall, Little Cayman. This 5-6 foot Loggerhead Turtle plowed through our dive group on a mission. Beautiful animal.

Standard Electric Time Company Clock 791, year 1922 (99 years old). This clock was used in El Dorado High School from the late 1920's to the late 1940's to power fifteen (15) Bells and Clocks at El Dorado High School (founded in 1928) in Placerville, California.

Need something like an expandable baton, to at least push it away. Since you can’t swing it around fast enough to deploy, like when above water, would probably need to be spring loaded. Hard to maintain when used in salt water, but worth it when you need it. ( btw an expandable baton is not legal in all states for civi’s. ).

great, on which divesite did you see that hairy frogfish? i did 50 dives in raja and didnt see one
Good catch. A Belgian couple that joined us in our dive group on the boat are the ones that provided the macro photography in the center part of this video. They sent me one email with that hairy frog fish in it but that was from Lembeh Strait to the west. I did take the liberty to add that into my video. It was only that one slide. But they are present in Raja Ampat and within the greater Coral triangle to the Philippines. But Lembeh Strait is best known for these guys. 😊
Ha ha! They're aggressive little buggers, aren't they? Luckily, they're big enough to notice and it's usually easy enough to see what mood they're in. When feeding, you can get as close as you like. But when breeding, stay away and don't swim up... maintain your depth and swim away.

WoW!!! You got to see and swim with a manta ray! As many times as I've been down there I have never seen a manta.
I know, manta rays are very rare in the Caymans. Our dive Master on that dive had been living down there for 20 years having done thousands and thousands of dives and he said he had only seen seven Mantas over all of those dives down there.

After a COVID antibody test near the Capitol, I decided to drive around and see what I had heard from a friend... that Denver has been infiltrated by more homelessness and protesters causing damage to many buildings with graffiti. I have to admit I almost cried when I saw this. The occupation and trashing of the Memorial Veteran Park and Broadway Street boarded up with graffiti. This really sucks!

It's my friend's Mike Young. The name is Bodhisattva. His wife is Wendy. They are down there a lot and they are moored in Puerto Escondido. My dream is to get a Grand Banks Trawler and to get it down there with a compressor to dive. Looks like you are living the dream my friend!
@@scubagrant6045 I know Mike and Wendy. As a matter of fact, we were anchored together at Candeleros Chico about a week ago. I don't have a compressor aboard 'Pacific', but we do carry 4 scuba tanks and can make 8 dives from them, if we're careful. Most of my video work is done while freediving. I'm going back down in October. How about you?
@@bajatrawler7325 The hope was to go back in October, but Mike is moving the boat to Ensenada in a week or two. So I am a bit bummed about that :(. My best diving with Mike was in October 2 years ago.
