Celebrating the Trails: A Year of Wild Walks
As the year comes to a close, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on an incredible year of hiking, adventure, and unforgettable moments on the trails. From conquering challenging summits to navigating hidden forest paths, every step has been a part of this wild journey-and I’m so grateful to have shared it with all of you.
This video is a highlight reel of some of my favourite hikes from the past year, filled with breathtaking views, tough climbs (so many stairs!), and those magical moments that make hiking truly special. Thank you to everyone who has watched, liked, commented, and supported me along the way. Your encouragement keeps me going, and your feedback inspires me to push further with every new adventure.
As we step into a new year, I can’t wait to see where the trails lead next. Together, we’ll explore more stunning landscapes, take on new challenges, and keep celebrating the beauty of nature one hike at a time.
If you’ve enjoyed this video, don’t forget to like, share, and subscribe to my channel for even more hiking adventures in the coming year! And let me know in the comments-what’s been your favourite hike this year, or where should I explore next? Your suggestions might just inspire my next trek!
Thank you for being part of this journey-see you on the trail in the new year! Stay wild.

That looks fun!! I would love to go there. What about u mum? (I liked my own comment) 😂😂😂
It’s safe enough when following the track but once that ends it becomes a lot harder.
@@RJsWildWalks oh okay. It looks very fun!!
What a great way of ending your series , for the year. They have been a fantastic watch. Keep up the good works.
Thank you, I’m glad you like them. The more I do the more I am learning and find walks I never knew about.
Nice
Thank you. I’m glad you like it.
Have a great year ahead, Be strong, be healthy, be wild. Thank you and happy new year.
Thank you so much for your advice and support! Wishing you an incredible year ahead-be strong, be healthy, and stay wild! Happy New Year!
Nice... 👍
It’s a great trail. It’s one that doesn’t seem to get easier the more you do it. Really want to connect Otainewainuku, Otawa and Pap Hills.
Thank you for commenting! You’re so right-Otawa is a challenging trail that keeps you on your toes no matter how many times you tackle it. Connecting Otanewainuku, Otawa, and Papamoa Hills sounds like an epic adventure with so many stunning views.
Nice like the video❤
Thank you for watching, I'm glad you like it!
Thanks for the video. I was wondering just how easy it is to follow the markers on the trail since the trail it's that well maintained by DOC?
Thanks for watching and for your question! The markers are there, but I did notice that some of the writing on them-especially at forks in the trail-is quite faded and hard to read. The main signs are in good condition, but in some spots, you’ll also encounter downed trees that you’ll need to climb over or duck under, which can make things a bit trickier. To be safe, I recommend using a navigation app on your phone. There are some great free options out there-personally, I like to use AllTrails, as it helps me stay on track even on less-maintained trails. Hope this helps, and happy hiking!
@RJsWildWalks thanks for that. I have been walking with the Tauranga hiking group - you should join us!
That’s awesome-you must’ve explored some great trails with the Tauranga hiking group! I’d love to check them out sometime. Do they have a Facebook group or somewhere I can learn more about joining? Always keen to connect with fellow hikers!
Wow, what a stunning area! Looked like a struggle though, don't know if I could do it
I could. Maybe
Thanks so much for watching! It truly is a stunning area-one of my favorite hikes for the views alone. It was definitely a bit of a challenge at times, but so worth it! You might surprise yourself if you give it a go-just take it at your own pace. Sometimes the best adventures are the ones that push us a little outside our comfort zones!
The ending of the video is amazing... Great work... 🫡👏
Thank you so much! I’m really glad you enjoyed the ending-it’s always fun to wrap up a hike with a memorable moment. Your support means a lot, and I appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment!
I know this walk well, totally recommend the walk, be careful swimming in Orokawa Bay its risky, I have scars on my arms to remember it by for a big wave threw me up on the rocks.
Thanks for sharing your experience and advice! Orokawa Bay is such a beautiful spot, but you’re absolutely right-it can be risky, especially with those unpredictable waves. Your story is a great reminder to stay cautious around the water. I hope your scars are now just a testament to your resilience and a memorable (if intense!) adventure. Thank you for watching and recommending the walk!
Great video, and pleased you enjoyed the area (its where I grew up). The walk way through the karangahake gorge is excellent too.
Thank you so much! It must have been incredible growing up in such a beautiful area-it’s such a special place. I agree, the walkway through the gorge is amazing! I’ll have to explore even more of the area next time. Any hidden gems or must-see spots you’d recommend?
You're a brave man, there's no way I'd climb that cliff!
Thank you! It definitely pushed me out of my comfort zone, but that’s part of the adventure, right? You never know what you’re capable of until you give it a try. Who knows, maybe one day you’ll surprise yourself and go for it too!
It's beautiful and Eden is so cute. I want to go there❤
Thank you very much. It is a fun day out in Rotorua, there is actually quite a lot to do there.
YAY DAHLIA WON
Yes, she keeps reminding me.

Thank you very much Patrick. Yes I am editing the Tramline hike at the moment I will release it Saturday evening.
Great job Dahlia from Kalisha.
Thank you so much Kalisha. From Dahlia.
Great video but Wind sounds are hard for ears....
Sorry about that, it was quite windy at the start of the first hike. I had a wind cover on the mic and turned audio down slightly but maybe not enough.
Very informative. Love it! Has made me want to visit the area with my kids
Thank you. Yes definitely take the kids, there is a lot to do in Taupo.
Great video! Nice creation of Almighty Creator
Thank you very much, I'm glad you like it.
Thanks so much for watching Part 1 of my Taupō adventure! I hope you enjoyed the journey up Rainbow Mountain and the powerful Huka Falls. Part 2 is coming soon-mark your calendars for Friday, 1st November at 5pm (NZT)! ⏰ In the meantime, I’d love to know: what’s one place in Taupō you’d love to explore? Or, if you’ve been, what’s your favourite memory? Drop a comment below and don’t forget to give the video a thumbs up if you enjoyed it! 👍 Can’t wait to see you in the next episode!
Good job bro
Thank you so much 😀
Great quality video
Thank you, I am glad you think so.
Good Job man.
Thank you!
@@RJsWildWalks Welcome
Wonderful work 🫡
Thank you so much 😀
Very cool project but very low audience. Please make a preview with some magnetic scenes and voice and then continue with background music and description dialogue. And also Facebook reels and UA-cam shorts
Thank you so much for your advice. I definitely need to make some changes, and I’m already aiming to switch things up a bit. I also think running a couple small promotions earlier on may have negatively impacted my channel. It is all learning though the more I do the more I can improve. Thank you for your support.
Great work 👌
Thank you very much, I am glad you enjoyed it.
Another great adventure RJ. Those falls are incredible man
Thanks so much! Yes I can see why those falls are sacred. Glad you enjoyed the video.
Some awesome shots there! Another beautiful video showing off aotearoa

Good stuff mate. Come down south island and make one of these!
Thank you so much, I'm really glad you enjoyed it! I definitely love to come do more of the hikes down the South Island. I will have to make some plans for the very near future.
Nice 👍
Thank you
That was awesome. Such a steep, slippery climb. Well done you. Bugger , not finding any gold 😂
Thank you
I wasn't expecting this
I hope you liked it. I have been asked to make some videos with me talking in them, so I decided to give it ago.
@@RJsWildWalks I do
Bit muddy. Gorgeous views. Didn't know that existed at Karangahake. Have only done the tunnel hikoi there
Thank you. Yes there are multiple different walks in Karangahake, with this walk being one of the less busy walks. I only saw 3 other people on the trail.
ats off to you! This video truly does justice to the beauty of hiking and the great outdoors. It really is a visual treat RJ!
Thank you very much, I am glad you enjoyed.
Now NZ’s second tallest tree. The new tallest is near Whakatāne.
Thank you for your comment! Is there a specific hike that leads to this tree, and does it have a name?
Wow, your videography has impressing day by day.
Thank you so much! I’m really glad you think so. The more I can do, the better I’ll become.
Wow so majestical

Well done Reece. Not a nice day to do it, but still fantastic views

Hi
Hello
What tripod do you use?
Thank you for asking. I use an old Manfrotto carbon tripod. It is very light but not very good for video. www.manfrotto.com/nz-en/element-traveller-tripod-small-with-ball-head-carbon-fiber-mkeles5cf-bh/
