    Hi, I have a 2022 Mojave. I enjoyed your video on putting on bigger tires. My question is do you need special equipment to calibrate bigger tires to transmission? Or can you do it with settings in your jeep?

    • @MojaveTrails
      @MojaveTrails 17 днів тому

      Hi Joe thanks for watching and asking your question. Yes you do need a computer module to set the tire size. I purchased the tazer mini to do this. You can also take it to the jeep dealer and have them do it. Mine wanted to charge me close to $100 to do it so I felt better buying the tazer. There are other modules out there some provide a lot more features and have a better User experience to like connecting to your phone. I would shop around a little bit if I were doing it now.

    I'd put netting over the back of the cabinet. stuff is guaranteed to shift while driving and could go flying out when the side opens.

      It’s a tight fit from the back of the cabinet and the side door. I’ve not had anything move much. Heavy things like the axe will settle down a little bit but I put them on the bottom to start with. Thanks for watching and commenting!

    Don't air down for clay and mud, wheel spin to clear your tire tread. Run the risk of rolling the bead off the rim

    • @MojaveTrails
      @MojaveTrails Місяць тому

      Since I run stock rims with no bead locks I never go below 15 psi and I rarely go that low. I start at around 22 psi and adjust from there. 95 % of the time that’s where I stay. Since I’ve added the extra weight to the back I start at 26 in the rear. I still find airing down to be better than not when I’m offroad regardless of the soil or snow. Thanks for sharing!

    I’ve been looking at these, back and forth with the Alu-Cab, this being a little better cargo space and non camping bed usage for my needs. Would be mounting to a full size BUT WOW…this is a Taj Mahal over cab pop up for a Jeep. The amount of living space even with the short bed and taking in account the “Always looks bigger on tv” factor is massive for the size of the vehicle. The length of the over cab compared to most of the same type competitors makes all the difference.

    • @MojaveTrails
      @MojaveTrails 2 місяці тому

      I looked closely at the Alucab it’s very well build and seals up nice for one person it’s fine. It’s too small for my son and I since he’s 6.5 and the fact that one person can’t be sleeping while the other is hanging out or cooking is a big pain. Alucab is heavier too. Noticeably heavier and if you add cabinets ehhh coil springs don’t work well for weight like leaf springs do. You can install heavier springs but it’s not the same. In the end I chose the tune and I’m glad I did. But if you decide on the Alucab it’s a great camper and is build to last like the Tune. Enjoy whatever way you go thanks for watching

  • @colbywood1384
    @colbywood1384 2 місяці тому

    Did you do any modification to your suspension? I have a Mojave as well, have the tune on order but wondering if the sag is significant, I had a different camper before that made it feel incredibly top heavy and a bit wobbly.

    • @MojaveTrails
      @MojaveTrails 2 місяці тому

      I added air bags to the back the kind that go inside the springs. They work well. You will notice more sway since you added 400+ lbs above the rails but it’s not bad it just won’t ride like stock anymore. I’ve been thinking about installing the accuride air suspension they have a Mojave version now. Only thing stopping me is the price it’s probably around 15k.

    I bought a 2024 gladiator Mojave X. Very solid small truck. Decent on gas, top comes off, go anywhere, lots of aftermarket mods to make it your own. Had jeeps in the past with manuals. Had/have 94 trans am ws6, 95 mustang gt, 05 mustang gt, 2015 wrangler, 94 f150, 83 Chevy, all manuals. I was worried about not getting the manual but I gotta say, the 8 speed automatic is pretty nice. If you’re on the highway or high speed it’s great!

    As a guy who lives in Japan, where we take off shoes before entering a "home," I can say no pair of shoes will ever walk on the floor inside my camper. I would make some kind of "genkan" (a separate area where you leave your shoes outside) that attaches to the runners so shoes can never make the inside dirty.

    How do you think set up and take down would work for someone 5 ft 4 in tall?

    • @MojaveTrails
      @MojaveTrails 3 місяці тому

      Hi great question. If you follow how tune recommendations for setup and take down you should be fine. Open the front first from the outside and then open the back. Reverse order when closing. Close the back first all the way down then use the bar to close the front. Before latching walked around the outside and making sure the tent fabric is tucked in then latching. I would have then install 4 handles one on each corner which I also recommend for more older customers. And having a step ladder to reach the sides may be helpful for you. Not sure where your from but you can schedule a free walkthrough on my website. www.lcoo.org at that time we can address all your concerns and try that out before buying. Thanks!

      It did influence me at the time but now that I have owned this for 4 years and have driven many Rubicon's during that time I would gladly pay more for a Mojave even if I planned on switching out the suspension which I will in another 10K miles especially after adding the weight that I have added. If they ever put the new Hurricane engine in the Mojave I will be forced to buy it. I will probably always have this one though since it was the first and I've enjoyed it so much I can't see myself getting rid of it. I wouldn't go on a long 20 hr drive on the freeway unless you were going to get off every few hours. Basically if you use it as your every day driver and you live rural or suburbs where your doing some city, highway, backroad and freeway driving you will be fine. I think the biggest thing is to change the oil after the first 1500 miles even though you can go 7500 miles between oil changes I always change it at 1500 when its new then I go to the 7500 or whatever the service book says for the vehicle. @MojaveTrails 4 місяці тому

      Hi, on my Gladiator I gave up 2 mph. The canvas doesn’t move in the wind like a tent does. There are Tune owners that have mounted a 270 awning you need to buy 2 sets of brackets. Good luck!

    I like the way they do the large widows all the way around. Was wondering if they offer any kind of screens so that in the summer, you could have things opened up without flying insects getting in. Really versatile the way you can put a board across between the windows and create another sleeping setup. Would work well with the top down in extreme weather or for stealth camping. I'm 5'10", and that's the first thing I've seen that would work for me in a mid-size truck with a 5 foot bed.

    • @MojaveTrails
      @MojaveTrails 5 місяців тому

      Hello, I have not seen a bug screen for the windows yet, although it won’t be hard to fashion one yourself if you choose to. With all of the T trac it would be easy to do. I have a new sleeping arrangement that I’ll demonstrate soon. Thanks for watching and take care of

    How is the sound of the canvas in the wind?

    • @MojaveTrails
      @MojaveTrails 5 місяців тому

      The canvas doesn’t move at all. You can hear the wind of course and if it’s strong enough you may feel the truck move depending on how you park. Thanks for watching and posting a question.

    maybe build these out of 8020 aluminum extrusions w sliding doors in the extrusion slots instead of swing-out doors into the tight space. Then put rollerblade wheels at the far end, rubber feet at the tailgate end and a handle, with wingnut secure points. Make it easier to roll in and out so the truck owner can use the bed for cargo without the cabinet. Thus be able to swap the cabinet in and out in a minute.

    • @MojaveTrails
      @MojaveTrails 5 місяців тому

      Interesting ideas I’ll keep them in mind. We actually use ultralight hex plywood in our customers models it’s light and strong and looks better than 8020 to me. I do like your suggestion on making it easier to take out for those customers that want that option. Take care and thanks for watching and commenting!

      Thank you very much, Blake has recently fixed up our 14' 1999 Indian River boat with a 15 hrs 4 stroke merc. It was build to run in shallow water and is great for getting to hidden lakes and rivers. It's nothing fancy but it is a lot of fun to take out. You will be seeing that on the channel soon as we highlight some of our favorite hard to get to small lakes and rivers in Wisconsin. A lot of people don't realize that with the exception of Alaska Wisconsin has the most lakes and many many of them never get fished because it's just hard to get to. You need a good 4x4 to get close and then you have to hike the rest of the way. There are also many that have small launches that you can't get a large boat on. Stay tuned!

    • @MojaveTrails
      @MojaveTrails 5 місяців тому

      I’ll show you in a video but basically the way we have our tune sleeping platform set we have room between the two mattresses for the rods. The total available length is 80+ inches

    • @MojaveTrails
      @MojaveTrails 5 місяців тому

      The way we have our sleep platform setup on our tune gives us over 80” of length between the mattresses and about a foot between them so we just lay the rods there. I’ll do a video on it so it’s clear. Thanks for watching!

      @MojaveTrails 6 місяців тому

      Thank you very much Vic! I a running true 35 inch tires on a otherwise stock Mojave, with the fan I can no longer fit in my standard garage which is 7'4". If I didn't have the max air fan it would be close. I have not measured it exactly but I figure I'm pretty close to 7'6". I fit in a 7'10" self car wash with a few inches to spare. If I was building a new house I would opt for 8' doors. We use our setup a lot and I can't imagine not having the Max Air Fan so it's a trade off for sure.

I thought this was a very informative video and your demonstration of the different uses of it was helpful to see (option to stand up while cooking/food prepping!).
