This ranges from endless reboots and sequels in the movie industry, to live service and remakes in the gaming industry. So, what happened? In this video essay, I go into what's going on, why it's happening and a bit of insight from my time ...

The Most Atmospheric Horror Game of 2024? - Still Wakes The Deep
We need a rerelease
Needs a remake or at least a rom hack to iron out it's various quirks to make it a better experience, short, sweet, plenty of flavour and chill although a little frantic vibes really carries it :v
Agreed, never played the successors to the games but they seem to switch up the gameplay. I imagine the game isn't popular enough to get remastered or even rom hacks but we shall see! Thanks for the comment!
Never heard of this game personally. Looks pretty good to me honestly! I don't mind laid back easy gameplay... except I wish it had more variety to it from what i am seeing. However I am more into games for interactive adventures with fun looking characters & whimsical stories. Many newer games even on the indie side don't focus on having fun memorable characters IMO, at least not in the way I prefer. I also don't care for blank slate characters where you are suppose to imagine yourself as them. So finding games that appeal greatly to me can be bit challenging.
Interactive adventures with fun memorable characters and whimsical stories, hmm, have you played Night in the Woods? I'd also say "Hi-Fi Rush" has some very memorable characters but the game isn’t laid back and the story is not really whimsical, it's quite feel-good though. Out of curiosity, what are your favourite games?
@@PlayThroughTime. I know of Hi-Fi Rush, I like the cartoon style adventure aspects of it... but am not into the character designs, and I have no ability to play rhythm games sadly, last time I played a rhythm platformer game I had to beat it using visual cues alone. I also heard of Night in the Woods, but never tried it, the character designs from it are only fine to me, nothing super appealing, still plan to give it a try sometime regardless. As for what are some of my fave games... I enjoy the Shantae games, certain Sonic games, the Sam & Max games, the DotHack//series games, All of the Sly Cooper games, The Ratchet & Clank series, The original FF7 [Not played the remakes,] The Disgaea games, Yu-Gi-Oh! Digimon World 1&3, Megaman Legends 1&2, Hollow Knight, Zelda Twilight Princess & Wind Waker... There is more, but that should give you enough of a idea. I am playing "Zet Zillions" recently and really enjoying it!
I think this game franchise is more interesting in it's failure to attract attention from the general gaming audience. I only know about this game because of the fan animation, after that it's the toon style that's holding my attention. As for the general gameplay mechanic, it's odd. A mech that captures cat pirates, must have been hard thinking of a coherent story. (has a bit of a Megaman Legends energy to it)
Yeah I will say that the animation is a strong suit so I can see why that held your attention... it's somehow a perfect capture of 90s cartoons, maybe a bit ghibli, which is somehow so nostalgic. Yeah, general gameplay just made me feel this could've just been a show or movie rather than a game, I've not played any of the successors though so maybe it improved with time! (Never played Megaman legends so will take a look as you've mentioned it!)
@@PlayThroughTime.This is still early 3D, so we maybe in the experimental phase. As for Megaman legends, the gameplay has some similarities, but it's more in the story. A pirate girl antagonist who is also a love interest, I'm seeing a few similarities with the bonne family. (actually I take it back, their is a lot of similarities, maybe they both share the same inspiration)
That's super interesting man, thanks for the insight!
Always a happy friyay with a new playthroughtime video 🎉
Happy Friday mate and more to come 🎉
Did any of you play Tail Concerto back in the day? How was it compared to playing now?
not only do you have the ace times/medals, but also red/developer medals. once you start getting those the addiction really starts
Honestly, there's no way I'm hitting most of those times, so I can see how people get addicted chasing those reds! Great addition btw, I didn't include it in the video because I didn't even know until after haha
Another new game that you've introduced me to with your vids. Great vid and WILD game
I've been working real hard the past few days as I need to create a backlog because I'm going on holiday soonish. I started to consider whether the effort's worth it or not, but as long as someone out there enjoys these videos I will power through. Thanks man, have an awesome day!
Thanks for showing off this gem.
It was my pleasure!
Jesus christ this game looks like a goddamn banger 😂 Most underrated channel on UA-cam btw, 100k subs locked in, but here since the beginning 🙋🏻♂️
It's something else for sure! Guessing you've never heard about it before? Cheers man! You're probably getting some sorta plaque on the wall when the studio goes up 🤣
how do you not have more subs
Appreciate the comment! I'll just keep it up and I'm sure the right people will find there way over here :) Have an awesome day!
Neon white is worth it
Agreed, great game!
this is professional editing holy moly!
Cheers @i_am_berry ! Appreciate the compliment, have an awesome day!
Definitely interested to give this a go following watching your video! Keep up the great work 👏
Cheers mate! It's definitely worth a go if you ever find yourself with free time. We'll talk soon because it's been years at time point haha, have a good one!
What did you guys think of Neon White? Great Game or Overrated? Happy to hear others out on what they think!
Great game. I got it like a month ago and i’ve already clocked sixty hours haha, too five hundred in a few levels. phenomenal and addictive gameplay, literally.
60 hours is amazing value for money, big praise too!
Never watched it, but the movie looks like nightmare fuel 😱
We'll have a movie night at some point mate, show you true despair 😁
@@PlayThroughTime. only if it’s part of a double bill, the b-side being Alien Romulus 😏
Fun Fact: If you revist the boss levels after defeating Quinn, you'll fight Thing One and Thing Two. Even Cat questions it. And yes, I have played this game before, and 100% completed multiple times.
Wow, that's an awesome fun fact, I didn't know that. Raises my opinion of the game ever so slightly because that's a fun little detail. 100% completing the game multiple times deserves some sort of award, maybe Mike Myers himself can pay you a visit.
UA-cam randomly recommended this channel, good stuff. Been going through the catalogue you have. Especially love the Deadpool one haha I do wonder, which AAA studio were you an insider from? The vague-ness of it probably tells me you can't say for one reason or another?
Thanks for the compliment, it's great to hear some of my older videos are still worthy! I think it's a few things that make me want to keep it vague. I got laid off start of the year and the industry is still in a bit of shambles, but I'm still searching for my next role or even waiting to come back to the studio that laid me off as I had some really close relationships with the people that worked there and enjoyed my time there massively. There's also the possibility that people could make the connection with who I am in real life if they knew the studio I worked at, and I'd like to keep that private... for now at least, as my channel grows I might just let people know straight up to be honest! Anyways, to give you a bit more detail so I'm not leaving you with nothing. It was a AAA studio, in Britain, that has a new game coming that was shown at the Xbox Games Showcase. It narrows it down enough but also doesn't confirm anything... I hope haha. Have an awesome day and thanks for the comment!
@@PlayThroughTime. Hey no problem, I'm glad to get a reply back either way! And I totally get it. Goodluck with future careers in the industry, and of course the UA-cam channel too! As I said good stuff already and I would have guessed this was a big channel with the quality you have. Not to mention bringing light to some games I haven't heard of in forever, or never heard of period. I love it
@@nb5034 Thank you so much man, appreciate the massive support and hopefully I'll be seeing you around as I don't intend to stop! But yeah, hope you have an awesome day, week and all the best man.
that game used to be my absolute favourite thing to play on my dad’s playstation when i was like 5, but i could barely remember most of it so seeing all this footage from it just brought back so many memories, thank you
No worries! It brightens my day when I get to hear that someone had memories flooding back due to my videos, there's something so pure and innocent about our memories of games when we were younger. Have an awesome day!
I LIKE YOUR VOICE AND I NEVER SEEN THS GAME BEFORE U GET A SUBSCRIB
Thanks man, really appreciate the compliment! Have an awesome day!
@@PlayThroughTime. tjhanks! you to!!! sorry you couldnt play sparking zero. go do it!!! thats my suggestion so you can have fun :)
Just to clarify because I may have come across a little harsh, the voice actors are clearly massive talents. When I said the voice acting didn't quite hit the mark, it could've been a bad day, could've been bad direction, could've been that they were all told to replicate the movie voices, any number of things. Wanted to say this so it's clear I'm not having a go at them for this game. Hope you all have an awesome day and see you again next Friday
Does it still the same game?! No way... I thought developers worked on this game till these days, no waaaay
I'm lost sorry! This is the PS2 version of the Ultimate Spider-man game from 2005 if that's what you're asking? Developed by Treyarch and published by Activision (Used to be an awesome combo)
WHAT?! bro only has 350 subs? can't believe it lol, you're doing great content! Keep it up!
Thanks man! Appreciate the compliment, hope you have an awesome day!
Considering Spider-Man is Marvel, what is your favourite Marvel game? Mine so far is probably the Square Enix Guardians of the Galaxy game, but I've been playing Ultimate Alliance 3 and that's been a load of fun too.
The reason why I love Gregory Horror Show so much, is because of the amazing character designs. Every single character has this weirdly surreal, cartoonish, origami looks/feeling but it adds that charm & uniqueness to it that gives them their own personality. Every one of them feels like they have their own personality, feelings, stories, etc. Absolutely thank you for giving this series attention, it's one of my favorite obscure media ever.
You're very welcome! I also love seeing the passion you have for the series man, it always brightens my day to see that absolute love of something and hopefully I can keep hitting the right notes for people like you out there. Have an awesome day!
I think twisted metal became the more popular version both are very similar and pretty good games at their time.
Agreed! Made this video a while back so don't fully remember what I said, but Twisted Metal was defo the more popular one. Both were definitely fun games in their time
Best dbz game ever for me. When you get good combos its insane how dragon ball it looks. Also theme song ragins soul mechanic is one of the best rhings i saw in fighting games. You literally get anime opening moment
man this looks so cool, wish sony wasn't a bag of assholes and let this be on steam
hope you have a wonderful birthday , i loved this game btw
Thanks LunaticG, I will do! Yeah, the game is definitely one I feel more people should know about for sure. Hope you have an awesome day too!
Wish this was on pc with a remastered graphic.
It’s a fun game and I wish it had a sequel
I love this game. Sony would rather leave millions of dollars on the table than put this on steam. Shave. My. Head.
Never heard shave my head, will be stealing that one from you in the future! I obviously don't know what goes on internally at Sony, but I read that Sony criticized the idea of Tokyo Jungle originally... I know Tokyo Jungle was referenced in Astro Bot so maybe they've got a different opinion nowadays, but with games like "Concord" going the way it did, maybe they need to consider going back to unique ideas that have been left behind like this one.
I really liked this game when it came out. I kind of wish it were ported to modern systems. I remember the animal i lasted the longest with was the African Wild Dog. I played as the Hyena a lot too.
Happy birthday
Thanks Kyle, very nice of you! Have an awesome day!
I almost bought a ps3 just for this game
I remember playing the shit out of this game back when it came on the ps3 gaming hits collection. The basis of the game is incredible, I feel like the biggest issue was the hardware. If this ever somehow gets a remake/remaster, I feel like it would become an instant cult classic.
Think I'm with you on that one, you're speaking facts!
i never got to play it but want to sooo bad, i don't have a ps3 tho just pc, ps5 and a switch
Yeah, it's so unfortunate when media gets lost between console generations, forcing you to go back to an old console rather than getting it on Steam or the latest console. Hopefully you can find a way to give it a go...
I played the shit out of this game back in the day. Dunno if it was dlc but there we're also cavemen and humans to play as
You're 100% right, there's a DLC with "Office Worker" and a Caveman which just showed how fun the game was without taking itself too seriously.
i played it when it first came out, i played for hours, and after 100 generations, my hyenas were indestructibles. Also, everyone in the top boards played the chicken
Guessing Chicken and not Chick? If they got that high with Chick then hats off to them as they're better than me by a long shot. I imagine you must've gotten a lot of fun out of it if you were playing as the Hyenas for 100 gens!
I love this game. never played it back on the ps3. found it on ps4. wish i wasnt so bad at the game. i can never get very far.
Honestly, game was quite hard when you got to the later years so I'm with you on that one! There's someone on UA-cam who does guides on how to hit 100 years with each animal, they're probably a great resource and I imagine there's a lot more strategy then I thought!
Great editing quality. Thought I was watchin a 1m+ sub channel. Keep going lad.
i really like the poms 😌 also HAPPY BIRTHDAY !
From Toy Dog to Apex Predator, gotta love them little menaces. I'll also be sure to have a great birthday coming up, thank you so much :)
Did any of you play Tokyo Jungle back when it first released? Such an interesting concept, but curious about how the hype felt back then!
Man this takes me back. Wish theres a way for me to play this lil gem allover again
@@thegrowingdarkness1377 I think depending on where you are it's still available through the "PlayStation Network Essentials Vol.1" disc or I've heard some people just say to get the Japanese disc as the language isn't a huge deal.... Not sure if it's available through PSN still as I got it a while ago through PS plus I think? But yeah pretty fun game!
Yep supper fun game. Kinda wish I could get my hand on it again but at this point I would have to resort to emulating it
Your thumbnail made me think it got ported to steam. still kino vida
Thanks for the kind words and sorry about the confusion. I wasn't a fan of cheeky thumbnail tactics either, but once I started using them, my views finally picked up so I realise why others do stuff like that. I did put a disclaimer in the description, but I get that most people might miss it because who reads descriptions nowadays anyway. Thanks again for the comment, and hopefully that explanation makes sense!
dude this video is great how tf are you not more popular
Appreciate it mate! Just focusing on the next video and seeing where I end up! Have an awesome day!
I absolutely LOVED watching the Gregory Horror episodes <3 I might watch them again
I had honestly never heard of the show before finding this game! Who's your favourite character?
@@PlayThroughTime. I've honestly always been partial to Neko Zombie. He was he only resident that wasn't a complete dick. The entire show is actually up on youtube. Someone was thoughtful enough to upload it in english in pretty high quality.
Not shure how i ended up here. But i did enjoy it ALOT. Great job man.
Glad you enjoyed it and I appreciate the kind words! Maybe fate brought you here.. (or the UA-cam algorithm but ya know) Have an awesome day!
