The World's Largest Castle That You Have Never Heard Of! (Probably)
Good info video for those who haven't been there. But after all it does not look so very different from many suburbs in the West, from roughly the same period, for instance in Scandinavia. And I have experienced worse housing in Manchester...
Yeah these houses may look unappealing and dull but they do their job decently well, I guess the Soviets built these to last after all..
Спасибо за рассказ. У вас уже хороший уровень языка
Спасибо большое!
Lithuania 👍

Interesting video & castle! Never heared about it. Thanks for sharing!

Hi, fellow Latvian here :) Thank you for revisiting Riga and sharing your trip! It is always nice to see others come here, because we are not so well known in the world. Really appreciate the video :) the only thing, in the end you said ‘spasibo’, i hope that you know that we (Latvians) don’t speak Russian but Latvian 😅
Wooooow it really is a stunner of a city!
Great video. The most impressive thing about Dresden is that almost every "historic" building you see, is in reality barely 10 years old. It was all reconstructed in the last decades (except for a few churches and palaces which barely survived the war). The Frauenkirche on which you are standing at 4:00 was built and completed in 2007 as well as the whole old town square with its buildings. And even the very few buildings which survived the war, were left as burned out ruins until the 1990s. The East German government obviously didn't reconstruct the city and even replaced the former old town quarters with socialist panel buildings and tower blocks. But Dresden is of course still a very small shadow of its former self. The city was named as one of the pearls of Europe and Europes most beautiful city. But even with the reconstructions, its far away from that title today... Luckily there are even new reconstruction projects for the city. The city council plans to reconstruct a small palace and a part of the old town on the other bank of the river. The reconstruction of Dresden is still an ongoing process...
Thank you for sharing ! That's very interesting, I didn't know that the reconstruction process was still ongoing, but yet again I now remember they were literally renovating the Zwinger building when I was there. I definitely want to visit again in the future!
Great video brah
Thank you brah
The Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe was quite stark but interesting, in that, it was not ornate like other beautiful buildings of Berlin. I would not have expected it to be such brutalist architecture, since is represents a quite artistic and talented people. Thank you for sharing your experiences.
Awesome tour! Thank you, Shingventures

Thanks for the great, boots on the ground, share! So much beautiful, ancient architecture. Glad that It was not all bombed out of existence. Enjoyed and thanks again!
Thank you for the support as always wyodino! It is really appreciated and I'm glad you enjoyed it!
It was restored from total ruin
@@ericacutten5593 Wow!!! I bet that was a "herculean "effort! It truly is hard to fathom that kind of restoration. It's so beautiful and elaborate. It takes forever to do the simplest builds these days.
@@wyodino6245 i can only imagine all the planning and effort put into restoring the old town of the city back to how it would've looked like before WWII, here are the timestamps if you want to hear and see it again 02:06 & 04:04
@@ShingTravelLinguist Thanks😀
The church at 5:05 is the Russian Orthodox Annunciation of Our Most Holy Lady Church, Riga.
Great
Nice vid
I realize I didn’t fully explain in the video why Riga became my least favorite destination at that point, so I’ll try to clarify now. I visited Riga from November 6th to 9th, 2022, right in the cold season. I had packed accordingly, but I wasn’t prepared for the atmosphere during that time. Since Riga is an international city with a sizable population, I expected there to be plenty of activities, events, and people around. I was dead wrong. The Old Town, which is usually bustling with tourists (as you can see from this video), was practically deserted. To make matters worse, the weather was bleak, which, I admit, was partly my fault for visiting in that season. However, this gloomy weather made it hard to appreciate Riga's beautiful architecture, which just didn’t shine in all its glory. I was excited to experience a bit of the "Soviet Winter" type of thing, but it just wasn't it. Out of all the countries I had visited up till then, Latvia was the ONLY one that I was happy leaving from...until now.
You visited Riga, not all Latvia. We speak Latvian, not ruzzian, soviet immigrants are a different story so the beginning of the video was probably for them... And it's Northern Europe, so the weather is...4 different seasons.
@martinskesteris8664 yes you're right, I did only visit Riga so of course I am going to base it off that experience I had. I do hope to see the countryside in the summer as I've heard it is really beautiful.
it is. as a fin i can confirm it
what time of year did you visit? the fog actually looks really cool
We had that fog earlier this week
I visited on the 29th of August and arrived in Helsinki at 8:15 am
There are definitely a lot more boring capitals than Helsinki ! All the designated capitals like Canberra, Ottawa, Brasilia. I am not sure how interesting Washington DC is beyond the Capitol, White House and Lincoln Memorial .. The fickleness and entitlement of tourists and expats .. So Barcelona and Italy are overcrowded with overtourism ? There are no locals left in Venice or Amsterdam ? Victims of tourist traps and rip offs ? Thus Helsinki, a city not only catering for tourists is boring. Yes the language is almost impossible and many cultural and entertainment may be less accessible .l, but there is a lot of culture, design and architecture in Helsinki. Nordic ciries tend to be more spaced and quiet than southern cities. A thing might be that Finns are notoriously introvert and reserved (males especially). They add another layer on the concept of 'Swedish solitude' . The fall and winter darkness and gloom is also a thing to take into account..
I would love to see that forge being used. So interesting
Yeah me too, unfortunately I could see it in work when I was there
This is amazinggg Mann
Thanks man 😂😂
captions compensate for low volume. Title should have started with Abandoned or something more catchy. Good video and research for someone with only 271 subscribers. I was fortunate to have this appear on my recommended list, which is a product of the 3 things Shing wanted. I did 2 of the 3. At the end, a cat looks out from a window.
Hi, Shing! Great video. Can you tell me where or how can i buy bus ticket? (Public transport bus, line 5)
Hi, Yes of course! Thank you for question. Buses in Albania when i was there only operated with cash, NO cards accepted!! There will be another gentleman on the bus (not the bus driver) who will collect this money directly from you, you don't pay the bus driver directly AT ALL! Hope you find this helpful! I do admit it is very strange but that's how they do it and it works!
@@ShingTravelLinguist Yes it was helpful. Thank ypu very much :) Have a nice day!
Miło że odwiedziłeś mój kraj. To ja dodam jeszcze jedną ciekawostkę.
