Author Toni Morrison said the same thing about her 'characters'....they 'compelled' her to tell their stories (MUST tell). Thanks so much for posting this author's discussion of her book(s).

What a great bookstore! I remember when it first moved into the West Goshen Shopping Center back in the 1980s. I remember the birds (were they Toucans?) and how the store became increasing packed to the ceiling with books. Then the store expanded next door and then they built the area in the book so there was plenty of space and, of course, the New Orleans restaurant, the Magnolia Grill I think. Then the rebirth in the smaller area for a while. A real community treasure! I still have a bunch of books I bought at the bookstore--and even recently even read one of them for the first time I have held on to for about twenty years without ever getting around to reading the volume.

Great interview. Just got HOME from the library and can't wait to start it. I really LOVE Myron and all the characters in his stories and was thrilled to find HOME by chance on the "new book " shelf. I'm pretty sure I have read most if not all of Mr Coben's books and recommend them without reserve to my friends. So glad he still loves to write!

I dropped out of Canterbury Choral Society in 1998 when its members attempted to rewrite the libretto of the St John Passion to eliminate every Jewish reference. Don't blame Bach, blame the Bible! This reminds me of the people who want to ban a classic like Huckleberry Finn.

I spent a lot of time on the music side during my college days. It was hands down the best music store around. The selection was incredible. I really miss it.

The well in the children's book area was a favorite spot throughout the childhood of my kids (now 12, 15, 17). I was so lucky to have CCB's help in raising my children to know the magic of books. I loved hiding between bookcases and finding inspiration for myself, too - sometimes hours would slip away! When my mom visited from Buffalo, NY, this would be one of her first stops. Can't say enough good things about the incredibly knowledgeable and brilliant staff. Your recommendations never missed! We will miss you terribly!

so many great books, gifts, memories...I loved that I could come in with just a few words about a book I heard critiqued on the radio and the folks at the center desk could always figure out what it was...you were our Sunday breakfast spot for years! WE'LL miss you over and over...best wishes to all

For several nights in a row, I stayed up late into the night reading "And After The Fire." Even though I hate going to work sleep-deprived, I could not make myself put the book down in order to sleep. Lauren Belfer is so adept at making history come alive, opening a chapter of this book is like stepping through a time portal. I don't know if she is going to make it to the west coast for her book tour, so I'm grateful that the Chester County Book Company recorded and posted this talk. (I'm also very sorry to learn of the demise of yet another great book store.)
