Nice to see Capt Buckle again. I was on Lowe from mid 81 to end 82. I remember scrubbing the deck and Capt Buckle came past I said sorry sir because the deck was wet and he said “Never apologise for working” The good old days.
Hi Lesley, I've searched the records that we have in the Association and there doesn't seem to be any mention of him. If you have any more info on him eg. dates he served in Lowestoft etc I can ask others who served during that period. You can contact me direct at ian@hmslowestoft.co.uk.
@@ianmackenzie7230 Thanks for the reply it was just my sister and I reminiscing and she told me my mum had burnt his letters when I told her he was in DQs in Scandinavia Norway I think.....a very long time ago. It was way back in the 70s No harm done x
Dave, these are just a small selection of the photo's taken. Many of the 150 ex-Lowies and guests who attended the reunion are not featured so there may well have been some of your old oppo's there. A full list of the reunion attendee's is on our 'Forum' which can be accessed via the website www.hmslowestoft.co.uk if you are an association member. Why not come along next year, it's at the same venue on 9-11 Oct.
I feel so sad that i served as a stoker on the Lowie from 78 to 80,yet i didn't recognise any names in this clip.I remember going to Falmouth for a refit and staying in a flat behind the Meinhoff hotel and we used to all meet up in the laughing pirate( or Jolly Gigolo) as many called it and i remember visiting my home town of grimsby and a load of stokers taking my dad out on the pop,but cannot remember many names...........I Hate getting old. ;-).In my head i still picture us as young lads.
+dave37909 Hi Dave, i presume that is Dave "Robbie" Robertson, i remember taking your Dad out and you phoning the ship as he did not return home. I think the last we all heard he was playing marines in everyones front gardens. Don't know if you remember me its Dan Hadlow we slept opposite in the gulch with the pole, good times. Take Care.
