Problem is we also to blame as a nation because we welcomed this for too long. Digital nomads/influencers complain about the lack of "soft life" in their country and South African fans are the first to shout "Come to SA you are welcome here" I just watched a vlogger from Zimbabwe who was in SA to study and that has expired now she back in Zimbabwe complaining about lack of hot showers, no nice restaurants and overcrowded taxis etc, and South Africans are calling her to come back. What is that? Long as they come in legally we say. Statistics show that all who came in legally eventually became illegal. Let's watch our mouthes also and what we welcome into our country on these social media platforms. Not everybody has good intentions and Ubuntu.

I think digital nomads shouldnt stay too long in SA. At most they should get shorter visa stays or honestly not be allowed to buy property like housing and land . we cant make them feel more home then capetonians .

This is one of the few times I completely agree with Penuel. What is ironic is that he was actually the one who hosted Rutendo when Rutendo was rubbishing black South Africans and claimed that the black people of South Africa are the poorest of all black people on the continent, which is not true because South Africa has the biggest and fastest growing black middle class on the continent, though much still has to be done to narrow the gap between the rich and the poor of all race groups in South Africa. Rutendo is an extremist who doesn't even view Julius Malema as a true Pan Africanist because he is not extreme enough for his liking. While I generally don't have a problem when black people are criticized and admonished to make use of the opportunities that they are presented with, what I simply cannot stand is unfair criticism even to the point of bashing them and calling them lazy, whether it is done by foreigners like Rutendo or by out of touch black South Africans who should know better. I am actually glad that Penuel is finally calling out Rutendo. The man is so obsessed with South Africa and what we do in our country. If only he could have that same energy and level of analysis for his own country. What a huge difference that would make. What amuses me is that suddenly there are so many non South Africans who are experts on South Africa and it's internal matters and are always ready to lecture South Africans about what they think we should and shouldn't be doing in our own country. The level of obsession with South Africa boggles the mind.

Most of African people who are talking negatively about South Africa who live in South Africa are in our country illegally. They have NOTHING TO LOSE. They know they've taken a chance for themselves to be in South Africa. WHEATHER they talk good about South Africa or not. They know that one day they will be deported. Whatever good we do as a country for them, they will never appreciate it because they have nothing to good to fall back on or to protect.
