I used to windsurf as a teenager until surfing took over. 25+years later I rediscovered my passion for this amazing sport. I am learning to wavesail - this channel is my journey: A place where I can learn from errors made, relive great sessions, and share the joys of windsurfing in Cornwall - UK.

This is my second session of the day. After a nerve-wracking experience in well-overhead surf at Sandy Acres, I headed to Maza for some cross-shore bump & ride fun. Had a blast!

Sometimes you get up early and the forecasted wind is nowhere to be seen until you see 'your tree' (we all have one) dancing a little wilder in a gust. You make your coffee and go and have a look - because you are up - and because a coffee on the beach beats a coffee in your kitchen. Looking out over the ocean you see the wind line creeping closer to shore - dark patches with big holes, especia...

After some time with light winds and no waves, we finally had some (light) wind and jolly waves (3-4ft). Godrevy was breaking nicely on the incoming tide.

A lovely Spring Saturday in Cornwall. We had sailed starboard tack early in the morning on the other side, yet I thought there may be some good leftover wind and waves on port tack at The Bluff - Hayle. Got lucky.

Class sailing with you today buddy 😁 awesome clips 🤙
🤙
I was down there as you were finishing up. Everybody looked bloody frozen to the core. Well done going out. I'm waiting for Spring.
Quick session between appointments, I wished I filmed with the Insta360: conditions were splendid.
Live your videos, love that bay too 👍
Anywhere from the bluff to Godrevy can be magical on its day 👌
Was nice to sail among the locals at Gwithian/Godrevy, as a tourist from Holland (orange witchcraft sail and orange lycra in the beginning). It was a relaxed and friendly group. Hope to come back some day, maybe next year, with slightly higher temperatures and more daylight.
Though you had plenty of wind, you didn’t get Gwithian on a good day, hopefully you get lucky next time!
Flat water and cold, er, it doesn't look like much fun! Credit to you for going out!
The cam makes it look smaller, the waves were hip to shoulder high and fun to ride.
I love how flat the water is between the waves. Also the large amount of space between them. I usually get sloppier conditions.
When there is a swell it is fairly clean indeed.
someone was watching you from above 😂😂 Well done Bart 👏
Windsurfers are now watched by the RAF indeed, I gave them a friendly wave 👋 (they were super low!)
Your best video yet. Nice one Bart, and good use of the 360 view. Looking cold though but it was a nice sunset tonight.
I set up the Insta360 a foot or so higher on the mast. It gives a nicer angle dont you think?
Certainly can't argue with that.
🥶 cold day, northeasterlies after the storm

Love it Bart, did you get a bit of adrenaline from that wave? 😅 'nice jibe from the dutchman' hahaha, eat your heart out Jordy! 🙂
Yes, Jordy’s gybe indeed! Haha! Yes, the wave was great, but it was just too much for me!
Thanks for the video; could you tell the sail size, and the wind strenght?
16-17Kn & 5.6m
@@windsurf888 Thanks
3 out of 3 Great waves 😊
Love those float&ride days. nice waves Bart. so far no problems with my flymount Aero-40... fingers crossed. did you safe the camera?
Yes, saved it just as the part that you tighten fell out…
Anyone else having problems with their FlyMount Aero-40?
it was a lot bigger than that on the outside keep the good work up
Yes it was, maybe 2-4ft would be a more accurate description 😎🧐
What wind direction is that ?
Southwest 🤘
Where?
St Ives Bay, Cornwall UK
@@windsurf888ok thank Uk , Not Canada.
Very nice, bringing up some 2023 memories. Aloha another dutch waverider 🤙🏽
Nice Bart, and some good shots of Jonty too.
Well done Bart. At least you had enough energy left for the climb back up to the car park.
Session 1, found the size of the surf a little intimidating - went for a bump & jump on the south coast afterwards ua-cam.com/video/FEuz02MqtVo/v-deo.html
Session 2 - after finding too little courage on the west side earlier - ua-cam.com/video/IUe5v616zHk/v-deo.html
had a great time, full power on 4-7m 109l Quantex 😊
First and last wave😂
Nice clean waves, light wind, perfect. I plan to come to Cornwall for a week between Oct 12th and Oct 22nd. Will pick a window a few days before based on the forecast. Would prefer 14-20 knots days with waist-high waves instead of >25 knots and mast-high sets. Can I place an order for these conditions somewhere?
If there is a big storm it’s big everywhere but often you can pick your conditions. In SW winds for example you have multiple port tack options varying in wave size, plus you have cross on starboard tack options too. The devils wind here is N or NW, however combined with solid swell you get an estuary option with manageable surf. Super tide depending like all Cornish spots but I ll guide you through it.
beautiful spot and beautiful conditions. sick board by the way, witchcraft lover myself too😎
Shame the water was a little brown from the previous day’s rain and storm. What witchcraft kit do you use?
Love those float and ride days! beautiful clean waves, just a dream. nice riding Bart!
You would love Cornwall Marc
The day after. Nice long waves.
You got some nice long runs in-between waves Bart looking at the playback on Surfline. I think we had the best of it today. The St Michael's Mount run from Roskilly was lovely. Clean wind and nobody else around.
Seems we did. Does the Surfline cam pan out towards Penhale?
@windsurf888 Not really. It's at the western end of the beach, so you're a long way off in the distance, but it gives a good indication of the run length.
Do you sail alone?
Only in known territory, early sessions at lesser sailed spots are inevitably going to have very few sailors…and none today.
I see you have your Power Ranger suit on
Ha yes. My special power is finding wind and waves 🤪
Early bird catches the worm
Dat zal ik zeker doen! Ik zit zelf niet op IG maar mijn dochter heeft je een berichtje gestuurd via IG met mijn mail-adres.
Your video's have inspired me to plan a trip to the st Ive's bay in October this year (from the Netherlands). Maybe we will even run into each other. Well, not literally I hope. Also Witchcraft gear by the way.
Ha! Goed werk.
Kun je me mailen op ron_gijzen "at" hotmail - punt - com ? Hopelijk laat UA-cam dit bericht staan. Heb al diverse keren geprobeerd maar het is net of het steeds direct wordt gewist.

Happy days Bart
Wind (well, some...) at last! See you on the water!
Such a beautiful spot! Is it always onshore or you get some side or off shore as well? Great shooting 🤙🏻 GoPro max?
Insta 360 X3 👍. plenty side and cross offshore days there too
Hi have you used the witchcraft footstraps. The white and black. Are they good? I see that you use Dakine. Best regards Karim
Hi Karim, yes I use the witchcraft ones, mostly on my 100&120L baoards for lighter winds. For this one (86L) I find the dakine better as you get in the straps more blindly when all is on the line. The witchcraft straps are harse on the feet when you miss them and bump your toes on the edges
@@windsurf888 Thanks! And do you think they work as good with shoes?
@@kassfahany8801 they do as you can set them narrow and high - and asymmetric too - see how here witchcraft.nu/accesoires/footstraps/ Note that the asymmetric setting works well on narrower boards (60cm and below) - on my bigger boards I found the asym setting working against me whilst waveriding...
Why do you have one bootie and one barefoot?
well-spotted! I cut my foot on the rocks at Mylor Harbour on a flat day windsurf session a few days earlier and the booty is keeping sand and grit out of the wound.
Another superb short vid it looks great . Fantastic cornish scenery and good windsurfing
I like to relive good conditions, and having a 2 or 3 runs is the best way of doing so...
double dip Mazza and the Bluff
4 HOURS OF SAILING, WHAT A TREAT!
colours are amazing, Well done Bart
ST IVES BAY IS THE BEST FOR WATER COLOURS THIS TIME OF YEAR
Hi! What a nice board. Are you happy with it? BR Karim
Really happy. I have a 86L as well (this one is 100L). The one in the background is an oversized one for light wind.
you made a bad day look good 😂
