How To Find Fiddlehead Ferns
If you are looking for Fiddlehead Ferns (AKA ostrich ferns) you will need to look for a water source such as a stream, river, lake or pond. Finding fiddlehead ferns isn't difficult. You can find fiddleheads near a water source on the forest floor. Look 10 to 30 feet off the bank of a water source and you should be able to find fiddlehead ferns. To collect sap you will need to drill a hole into the maple tree so that it can flow into a collection pail. Your hole should be about 4 feet from the ground. Using a 1/4 inch drill bit, drill slightly upwards into the maple (so the sap can flow downwards).     sweet grass of all the thigns out ther to burn sweet grass is my favorite trying to actually grow it but am, growing other thigns as well adn the labels were blown off by the winds so I am only guess ing which if sweet grass and which isnt started all from seed

    you gotta be careful with eastern white cedar (Thuja occidentalis) in particular, the oils extracted from boiling it are highly toxic to consume.
