Warren Zevon - Mr Bad Example - David Letterman Show, 1993
Underappreciated Warren jam. God I miss that man.
That is class.
A genius
Jordan Zevon in the back singing harmony.
this should be Canada's anthem lol
letterman should have reprised his role in the song
If this was sang to heavy metal Warren would not have been invited to the tv show. Funny how that works. I love extreme metal AND pianist singer songwriters.
❤ for the upload; this is great.
for that lawyer
He was born to perform.
Great song by a fantastic song writer.
What does he whisper in Dave's ear after the performance?
lets play golf sometime
How much I miss Warren. A brilliant songwriter with a unique sense of humour. We all lost a part of ourselves when his ride got here.
This wouldn't have been on tv if he was a heavy metal vocalist. I was raised on Zevons music...
My parents had the album with excitable boy. It was pop so it's fine.
@@Someone-kg8qf You had good parents based on that single data point. Lol.
Warren should be in the R&R Hall of Fame!!!
"Lets play golf sometime.." LOL
I love the little detail of Warren starting to play right as he sits down
Warren described this as an “apocalyptic polka” PERFECTTT
Wow...didn't even know this exsisted till now. Wild. For sure needs to be used in Shorsey.
You were reading the The Hockey news story on Bob Probert weren't you? It led me here too, and I also had no idea the song existed either.
This song should be on the Shorsey soundtrack
Me. Horns sounds good
Paul gets it #just1goal
he is SO happy for his part
thanks for uploading.
Another great Zevon tune. RIP, Warren and thank you for your music.
One of my favorite WZ songs.
I thought guitar playing face bothered me. Paul's piano playing face triggers me
Paul is playing organ actually.
@@brucejohnson6381 We all knew that...
HIS SON BEING IN THE MIST DOPE.
I was hoping Dave would do his “hit somebody” line. Just not the same with Paul doing it.
Agreed, but looking at it objectively, Paul's voice probably sounds more like a sloshed Canadian that might actually be screaming at Buddy's game than Dave's does!
Yeah, why didn't Dave do his own line?
This song was inspired by the life of Gonzalo Lira, a somewhat infamous huckster who's travelled the world swindling, lying and adventuring. Hell of a guy, wrote Wilshire boulevard.
That sounds interesting can you elaborate, can't really find much about the guy when I google. And what is Wilshire Boulevard? Great performance also Letterman was a massive fan.
You have a source for that? Lira was 22yrs old when this song was written. Fascinating fellow, but the timing seems way off.
@GarthKlaus it's basically him, gonzo is probably still alive in Havana somewhere
Warren did not like Paul at all-I would love to have been a fly on the wall during his behind the scenes discussions between Dave and Warren.
Warren Zevon is one of the greatest artists of all time. Nobody since him has been nearly as impressive. Also, did you know that the tv show Californication was a loose retelling of Warrens life? Only instead of a musician, he was an author. But the parallels are uncanny.
@@VotEtoPizdets yeah I love his music but I did not know that-interesting.
I remember watching that. Great intro by Dave. The Learning to Flinch live collection is a special album. The version of Indifference of Heaven is so good, I want to cry.
