Love this - my polaris pool cleaner is starting to not operate well after many years of use. The lack of troubleshooting and features on these cleaners is driving me nuts. In my case it has a reverse off the beach feature when it detects the suction motor is not in water. This is triggering, and it's reversing a ton. A new motor assembly is more than the new aiper robots. I would love to see a bunch of handy peopel design a robot that uses cheap off the shelf parts and is DESIGNED to be easily repairable. Looks like i should have bought a dolphin over the polaris IQ....

Hey Luke, great vid... I'm just waiting on a part in a last ditch effor to fix my Maytronics DB2 also.. My issue is a seized servo motor and it was difficult to find the replacement (if the one I ordered is correct). Have you had any issues after opening the motor with water getting in? I was thinking I might put some silicon or something around the seal as the repair shop said they would not even open them due to water problems after this is done.

Hi, I think my problem is in the tracker motor rather than the impeller because that white but on top doesn’t move. I’ve taken the motor apart and one part is rock solid and won’t move. Any ideas how to replace it please?

Do you think the same fix would work for the drive motor? I think it's possible I have a similar issue, but it's the drive motor that won't turn easily. Or - how would I know if it was the cord? Mine won't even get to where it begins moving, the control panel will turn on briefly and then flash and turn off. Thanks for any help you can give!

I'm having this same problem, so I'm very glad I found your video! I'm adding one brief note - when reassembling the motor housing I checked the gasket for any impurities and then added a small layer of silicone grease. I bought this tube of pool-grade silicone grease for my pool filter when I replaced the cartridges and o-ring a couple of years ago and it's proven useful on many other occasions.

Just FYI: that’s not a bearing under the brass cap. It’s two rotary shaft seals. Ask me how I know. 😂

Hopefully you are still checking comments... So my S300 will go forward as it should. Climbs the wall no problem and creeps along the tile line while bumping up against the coping. But then when it decides to go in reverse, it will do so for only a few seconds and then stops moving. Gravity will make it sink to the bottom of the base of the wall and after about 30 seconds it will resume going forward again. As a result, it's constantly climbing walls, but never finding the floors where all the filth is. Also take note that when it is just sitting for those 30 seconds immobile, it is still blowing a lot of water out the discharge vent as I can see all the turbulence in the water. So this makes me assume my impeller is working. Regardless, your video is very helpful in informing how to take the guts apart and possibly looks for clues. I am going to try it tonight. So thank you for that. But in the meantime, any suggestions as to what is causing what I am describing?

Anybody know where the wobbly washer goes? Found it in the body after I took it apart but have no idea where it came from.

Clearly not a Texan. Out in the snow in a t shirt. We put on our parkas when the temp dips below 70º! Excellent info, you can also repair your pool pump and booster pump motors by changing the bearings. It's easy, there's tons of videos here and its WAY cheaper than buying a new motor. Here's another tip. When taking apart a motor, BEFORE you remove the through bolts, Put a hash mark or index mark across the case and the end caps. Now, when you reassemble the motor, you line up the hash marks and the through bolts will go through the case and right in to the threaded bosses.

WOW, how in the heck do you engineer and design these. You should work at NASA, they need help.

I did as you said a month ago and it worked. However, it stopped working again even after cleaning it out. It goes for around 30 seconds and then turns off. Please- any further suggestions? Greatly appreciate it.

What's up Paaa. I have an older dolphin Maytronics Triton. Cables have continuity and the unit starts as the propeller spins for 2-4 seconds and stops. The power pack also turns off. Could this be the motor and or ball bearings? Thx.

So I broke two of the copper pieces loose while using a screwdriver to get the bearing off. Any suggestions on what I could use to glue them back on….

got the whole thing completed and built but running into 2 issues. 1. for the safe part,. when i press the button in and and turn the white piece up, the red part, doesnt go in, it seems to be either very stuck and doesnt move much. when i turn the knob on the right side, nothing happens, i need to unjam the white part. to make it go. 2. the puzzle one.. i have it set the dial to the left, so i could push it all in , but the dial, doesn't move at all to the right anymore.. the blue part is stuck. unless thats part of the puzzle, but cant seem to do anything. any suggestions? thank you

I just wanted to say thank you Luke for designing this. This is genuinely the coolest thing I have ever printed and I have printed so much stuff. I made one for myself and bought some filaments to get some decent colour variation and then also made one for a friends birthday and its fantastic. I absolutely love puzzle boxes but they are so incredibly expensive sometimes, being able to 3d print this makes it so accessible. I was curious, what software did you use to design the parts? Because i would love to be able to design something even a quarter as cool in the next few years. Thanks heaps, looking very forward to your future designs.
