    AMAZING, I have 4 hives and recently touched one of my queens. I am 68 and on and off had bees and never touched a queen.

    The whole swarm redirected after the second bunch was dropped into the box!! It's amazing how much they gaurd the queen and even more amazing is she control's all by feramone!!! Bee's and ant's are brilliant to watch/study ....

    That is a nice pump. And your explanations are excellent. Those blue barrels are quite the space saver over 10 or so buckets.

      @@rtxhoneybees thanks for the comment. We love the pump it definitely is a great tool we can use several different ways. Those barrels would be great space savers for use to keep the honey in, but since our bottling room is in our basement and for easier uncrystalizing we do transfer everything into 5 gallon buckets to store.

    What do you think would gappen if tou caged the immature queens and put them in nuc ? Seems to me that they woukd live.

      @@10peteo that is what we do with them. We put them in candy cages and then place them in mating nucs. We have a pretty good success rate with being able to get queens mated.

    Hi, does the drums have a gasket in the lid? Are they airtight to effective store the honey? if so could you link where you purchased them. Also, would like a link to that pump as well.

      @@KayiFarmJaHoneyBees yes they do have gaskets and are airtight. We only use them as settling tanks though and transfer the honey into 5 gallon buckets for easier handling.       Thank you for the comment! Beekeeping is not a cheap endeavor, but you can also get into it and keep it small without all of the large equipment and fancy gadgets. Beekeeping is challenging but very rewarding!😊

      @@mocarp1 we let them drain for about a day and then transfer them to bus tubs and set them out for the bees to clean up any residual honey. They have them pretty dried out after a day or two.       @@claybunner1059 no, it is a closed system that uses propylene glycol to heat the knives.

    Tom-Just a little tip- you can take a piece of saran wrap, or plastic wrap and lay on the top of your honey. the capping sludge will stick to the wrap, and clean the honey.

      @@jamesnolan9651 the marking? I can never get ahold of those girls. They’re either too fast or I grab them with the wrong hand and fumble transferring them to the other hand to mark. Gently holding them down and dotting them is fast and easy. I figure it’s really not much different than using one of those crown of thorns marking cages.

    I've heard said that for every 100 lbs of honey you get 1 lb of wax. Is that close?

      I'm not sure honestly. We harvested 2100 lbs of honey this year, but I didn't weigh all of my wax before it got shelved with everything else. I'm positive I got more than 21 lbs of wax though.

      Mid June. Mostly because we get so busy with honey harvest and everything else after that I never have time to dedicate to it. I’m still seeing lots of drones in our colonies so I was thinking about trying another round if I have time in the next week or two.

      Thanks @@jamesnolan9651. We don’t extract deep frames since we usually feed early spring we can’t guarantee they wouldn’t have sugar syrup in them. We save them for making splits or plugging into hives needing food frames in the fall.
