Bottom line- unless he has shown a real reason to be concerned about your childs safety, never turn a man away from seeing his children. And if he has shown a reason to be concerned about your child's safety, then get it taken care of in the courts and get it documented. Far too many children go without knowing the love of their father. The greatest thing that I did as an adult was to take the initiative to see my father after being told all my childhood that he abandoned us. He didn't abandon us, he abandoned her and she held it against him.

I look at it like this... if he has been there before to see his son and she trip every time, then she in the wrong... it's not about her, it's about her son. If her son decides he doesn't want to see his father then there you have it... I would never deny my children their father... and if they say they don't want him around then that's for them to decide... they are old enough to know and understand what's going on... thankfully I don't have that problem. My kids adore their dad... and love spending time with him as he does with them

I agree with everything she said, but I do not agree with her not allowing her son to decide if he wants a relationship.

She wants to be the only parent, both mother and father. He should leave her and her child alone so there'll be no more fighting. The last thing the son needs to see is the fighting and bickering between them. He can reach out to his son in other ways, i.e, letters, being present at the son's activities. The son will eventually and organically trend towards the father if the father is a consistent presence in his son's life. The mother is selfish.

She is wrong but he's wrong as well. Child first means child not you. From the video he's been there before catching hell, he also hasn't been consistent. Both things affect each other that's why they are both wrong. It isn't one needs to change before the other both adults need to be just that immediately.

I can't say she is wrong, but I won't say she is right. You can't choose when to be a parent. Either you will be a parent or go on about your business. I understand this point of view.

I do over 50% of the upbringing of my children. The mother is hopeless.

Dad may be late, but he may be showing up just in time to save the son from a life that’s no good.
