St Croix - North Star Wall Dive
Переглядів 1057 місяців тому
Here's some footage from my dive at North Star on St Croix. We explored down to about 85 feet along the wall, then back up to shore. Incidentally, this area had one of the most difficult shore entry/exits I've dealt with. Be prepared for a lengthy walk into the water on rocky terrain, because it takes a very long time from the put-in location to deepen enough to start swimming. Overall, it was ...

The yellow and black fish is very cool. 10 dives and 50 snorkeling trips in St. Croix and haven’t spotted one yet 😮
Thanks!!!!
Looks awesome.
💕Wow💙💙💙💙💙💙💛
How cute!
That looks like it hurt lol
Can the same be done with red rosin paper? Also since this can work as a moisture barrier, are their any concerns with trapped water vapour?
I've only used roofing paper but I don't see why it wouldn't work. Wood floors require a moisture barrier so something will be restricting moisture migration with or without the roofing paper.

Did you ever have any odor from the roofing paper after install?
It disappeared once the floor was installed on top of the roofing paper
@@aogail did you put any vapor barrier over it or just the rosin paper?
@@straightdooshbags1786 I put vapor barrier over it
Would it be a bad idea to use a combination of 15 lb and 30 lb paper? .. Using the 30 to fill the low spots, etc.
I imagine that would work fine.
Lovin' it
Good idea! It's perfect for nailed down flooring. How do you calculate or check how many layers of paper you need?
I used an 8 foot long aluminum angle I had laying around, as a straight edge to give me a reference for what would make the floor mostly flat. Then I used stacks of small pieces of roofing paper under it at intervals to measure how many layers it would take to bring it up to flat in different areas. Then I feathered the different measurements together.
@@aogail Genius! Use different layers of small pieces as gap gauge. So you can even draw a contour map before staple down paper. Thank you for sharing!
I wonder how thick could you go, my lowest spot in a corner is about 7/16th lower than where I want it, but most it 1/8-1/4 of the low area
I used this method for at least half an inch and so far (after a couple years) it's held up.
How many layers would it take for half an inch?
@@MassKaos1 I went 6 or 7 layers and stepped it down gradually over 22 inches. Not perfect but it worked. It is in the basement for me on a wood sub floor. When it is cold I can hear it slightly and feel it a little, but when it is not cold zero issues. I have luxury vinyl plank on it.
@@Reptitude Did you staple or glue it? This is great I highly appreciate it!
can you out plank with preattached foam padding directly over the roof felt?
I've never installed vinyl floor so I can't speak from experience - but I don't see why not, if it's nailed down or floating.
Cement is best but if there's too much to level is risky. I was looking for ways to flatten my floor upstairs and this seems like a great idea.
SL Cement requires a minimum thickness, cracks where the thickness is insufficient and requires gluing.
@@serolog2 no gluing
I'm sad and happy at the same time because the mouse just wanted some food but my other half of my brain is like Nope kill that mouse it destroying the whole world.

Does the tar paper settle after a while or does it stay Spongy
Even with a bunch of layers it wasn't spongy, so it didn't need to settle. It's solid, especially after nailing the wood down on top of it.
I am working on my floor and stuck with uneven subfloors. I am too hesitating to use self-leveling compound so this could be my solution! Did you use any adhesive between floors and paper and between papers?
I periodically stapled the roofing paper down just to keep it in place while layering it and then installing the floor. My floor is nailed in using flooring cleats and that's really what is holding it all in place.
How is till now still holding?
@@gardenia1117 I ended up using Feather Finish underlayment patch.
@@ayakaiho6997 - I am on process to lay vinyl planks on the wood subfloor, my floor have many low spots, and I am not sure how to tackle the problem. Is it easy to use feather finish patch and what kind did you use? Thanks
That's the brand name we have in the attic. 4 of them.
Fifteen layers?? was there any spongy spots from the multiple layers? Can you post the finish project.
Paper isn't really springy so once it was laid it didn't have any noticeable flex. I don't have a finished video handy and the room is full of baby stuff now, but after flattening with roofing paper the rest of the process was just laying moisture barrier and the floor itself. This was one of my least flat rooms and it turned out well with this approach.
Nice.
don’t suppose the increase in fires has anything to do with Climate change??
