Madam's pond was mended by J D Munroe for his wife, Henritta, daughter of Henry Baker (Jr). Henritta was having serious muscle sprain during the cold season, as she is born and brought up in India. In Scotland she was adviced by some doctors to be prepared for the monsoon season by taking many hours of swimming exercises, so that her body absorbs more contents of water to stop the muscle sprain. In fact now-a-days people know that, drinking water before sleep was the biggest medicine against muscle sprain. But during those days, nobody bothered against the ideal explanations of diseases and as said by somebody, treatments are done, without justifications. Anyhow, Mr. Munroe prepared the water fall and its pond for the lonely swimming exercises of Henritta madom, and it is said that she was relieved much by the physical endurance attained by the weekly swimming exercises. Madom Henritta's 3 daughters used this pond maximum, as this place was isolated and lonely place, people rarely venture to go such places, in the sense that, the girls could do free swimming without anybody's notice or attention.

You should know more about the path you headed to Madam' Pond. That road from Ashley estate was the oldest high range road to Kumily, then known as Gudallore camp. The Kuttkkanam-Mundakayam road was newly created after 1865 only. Before that the people in Minachil taluk used this road from Poonjar or from Kalaketty or Thidanad to Chennad, Pathampuzha and Ilamkadu. This way was all along the hill top, so that the pester of wild animals could be avoided. From Ilamkadu the path is along the side of the Manimala river, which emanate from the old Bison Valley estate, that presently dissolved with Tyford estate. Along this route diverting points are there to Vagamon and Kolahalamedu points. Without going to Kuttikkanam, the road was heading from the Ashley estate junction to eastwards to cross the Glenmary area, where all the major Peerumade estates are concentrated. Even many high range people do not know where Glenmary area is. Glenmary was one of the first estates in that area, besides Kozhikanam, Kaduva Karnam, Ladram, Lakshmi Kovil, Rani Kovil and many such tea estates. The row of estates start from the Woodlands estate on the junction of Glenmary road and Elappara road. The first estate from the east side of Glenmary area is Karadigudy estate.The first estate in Peerumade was the famed Tyford estate owned by Henry Baker (Jr) and his brothers. But Tyford was opened and cultivated by Mr. F G Richardson, the senior most planter in Peerumade and a collegue's son of Henry Baker (sr)
