i hope you guys like what i did with the audio this time, i used my phone mic, but also used an instrument mic and mixed the 2 audios together because it sounded better than either one alone!

Some Dubstep just like the old times :)
In the late 60's. I studied with him at Rhythm Associates. Also on staff was Freddie Waits, Joe Chambers and Warren Smith. Rudy would sometimes give me a ride to NJ near my house. Great times.
that pinky tho
its in its own world
a masterpiece !
I hear all kinds of licks that Bonham took from players like Art, Elvin, etc...
Just like any 60's-70's rock drummer (Baker, Mitchell, Paice, Bruford ecc...)
@@robertoricci3393 right baker was incredible too tho, had his own way of using the double kick musically, but nowhere near the level of the great jazz drummers, and he admited it too. this is what they grew up listening to and what they were inspired by. these guys were the pioneers of the drums
Nice groove
art
No mikes , nice
Brilliant..
Holy shit, what Gus Fring Is fuckin showin off dude?!
thats actually hilarious, gus fring 😭
He knocked me out!!!!!! I know it's extremely dumb n unprofessional to compare!!! But I'm sorry this cat is a better soloist than Blakey . Roach Cole. Bellson.. n many more!!!!!
Old school ❤❤❤
That’s what’s known as disrespect
No disrespect but a little TOO much cymbal
I respectfully disagree with you
Those are all English words, but that sentence makes no sense to me 🤔
The historical context--not assuming you don't know the cultural, spiritual and physical expression you're criticizing--reflects the slip of the tongue, the sudden, silly and serious: Jazz. There's many ways this energy is, and has already been, perceived and received. It's OK if you think there is "too much cymbal". Just keep in mind that you're expressing personal taste, and perhaps a first time listening experience to this sound, and not a universal truth. Every single artistic creation can't please everyone; I think that's a good thing. The world needs endless diversity. Evolution, etc.
More cowbell l!!
@@bigbo02131 ah, definitely not enough of that. You can never have too much.
Каша-малаша!Не впечатляет.👻☮️

Next level genius
Legend indeed!!!!!
Legend!
One of the truly greats. His intensity and rock solid rhythms and time keeping was so astounding. Thanks so much for posting.
Ofc! Art Blakey is my favorite i love his music so much and want to share it :)
Amazing
Super swinging!
מתופף גדול
ostinato on the hi and ruds everywhere you want.....simple
I had never heard of him before now and he’s an instant favorite! That’s also the classiest drum kit I’ve ever seen.
I was thinking the same thing. This cat was (is?) good and those vintage Rogers drums in that finish are incredible!
Bello/magnifico.😭👑👑👑👑👑👑
Superb 👏👏👏
I never have heard of Rudy. I’m not disappointed in the least at all 😮🎉
Al just subscribed to your page I hear so much Gene Krupa in your drumming style great job. small request let me hear you do some buddy rich chops thank you
Afrikan war drums
ONE WORD. “GENIUS”
The triplets are mind blowing!
🔥🔥🔥
Go Rudy GO!! OUTSTANDING! Give that man a towel 😅
They jammin!!!!!🔥🔥🔥🔥
WONDERFUL
VERY NICE!!!!!!
Class ❤
Classy. Beautiful kit too. Power and finesse. Those cymbals sound real splashy.
Rudy was a tremendous drummer with a lot of power and very good technique. To me, he was like a blending of Max Roach and Art Blakey. He was a student of a good friend of mine, Sam Ulano. Yes, his Rogers sound fantastic here. I think that Buddy Rich was also playing Rogers at the time, and Louie Bellson would be playing them soon thereafter as well. Very hip solo by an excellent drummer.
thanks for the comment! it's really nice to hear a bit of backstory on him. i'm personally a huge fan of art blakey and i hear the connection. Much appreciated!
At the time "Roger's drums were the most sought after drums because of their pure sound😊
They were a hardware company like Camco. Rogers did not make shells like Ludwig and Slingerland. Rogers used Jasper shells.
@@brianchisnell1548 Oh I didn't know that. I never heard of that Company before. Thanks for the info
Fuck yeah!!
Smokin’!! Absolutely smokin!!

This footage is a real gem. Thanks! ❤
love it!!
Awesome hand wrist technique of course musicality…an excellent excellent drummer. Needs to be recognized!
Hear hear
I agree 100% needs to be recognized.. the cat knows how to solo
I mean he reminded me a bit of gene Krupa
You can walk cool, talk cool, dress cool, act cool… But you’ll never be as cool as Dizzy!!
Those Rogers sound pretty great! And the drummer wasn't too bad either 😉
WOW, never heard of this man, excellent time keeping with the left foot and superb musicality with feel for latin rhythms. Fantastic
magic!
