Daniels First Officer on Scene: Officer Steam (Unit 1-19) Status: Active Investigation - Officer Missing Incident Summary: At approximately 02:43 AM on May 1, 2005, Officer Steam (Unit 1-19) responded to a 911 dispatch regarding a disturbance at the McDonald’s restaurant located on 1457 West Main St. Upon arrival, Officer Steam was the first and only officer to arrive at the scene during the initial response window. Upon arrival, Officer Steam reported over radio that the restaurant appeared to be completely empty. There were no employees, customers, or any individuals visible from the outside of the premises. Officer Steam proceeded to perform a preliminary sweep of the exterior before entering through the unlocked front entrance.Blood splatters and signs of a violent struggle were evident throughout the dining room, with overturned tables and chairs. Officer Steam advanced toward the kitchen where several mutilated bodies were found scattered on the floor. At this point, Officer Steam’s camera captured an unidentified man dressed in a costume resembling the well-known McDonald's mascot Ronald McDonald. The man was observed butchering one of the bodies, using what appeared to be a large cleaver. When the suspect noticed Officer Steam, he turned towards him and appeared to smile. Officer Steam's radio transmission abruptly ceased at this point, and no further communication was made with dispatch. The body camera footage ends shortly thereafter with the sound of heavy footsteps and muffled noises before cutting to static.Officer Steam was not located at the scene. Extensive search efforts conducted inside the restaurant, nearby buildings, and surrounding areas have failed to locate Officer Steam. Only Officer Steam's body camera was recovered, found lying in a pool of blood near the restaurant's kitchen. The blood pattern suggests a struggle, but no signs of Officer Steam’s body have been discovered. His weapon and duty belt are also missing.Forensic analysis is underway to determine the identities of the victims and the suspect. Surveillance footage from the restaurant's security system was tampered with, providing no viable leads. The investigation remains ongoing, and Officer Steam is officially listed as missing in the line of duty. Officer Note: Anyone with information regarding Officer Steam's whereabouts or knowledge of this incident is urged to contact the department immediately.
