How you can say Sam darnold hasn’t been a top 5 qb this year so far when he’s been the best is outrageous and then you switch it to qbs you’d want on your team right now. Conner, you're young so you may have missed chunks of what I'm gonna say. Fields is religious & speaks to & about hiw coaches with deference & respect. He also will do whatever they tell him to without question. So what are we seeing when Fields plays? Him trying to work within the structure of play-calls. The funny thing is, while every NFL fan acts like they understand this, they're lying to themselves. Every time they get frustrated they ask why didn't _the QB_ win that game? No matter how obvious it's the play-calling at fault, they will never blame just the HC. Never. We're seeing this play out right now with the Jags & we're still seeing this with the Bears. Bears' fans say "Fields sucked & it had nothing whatever to do with play-calling. We're also glad Getsy's gone because he sucked too." Well wtf did Getsy suck at that they're glad he's gone if not the play-calling? Do you see how they're trying to blame the OC as if the HC didn't hire him, didn't approve his plays &/or was somehow an innocent bystander who isn't expected to defend himself against the evil OC & QB out to sabotage him by playing badly just to get him? Even before this was recorded the o-line players have been quoted as saying "we're trying to execute the plays we're ordered to" & Eberflus has struck back with "there's nothing wrong with the plays. the players are the problem." So he is the one calling those plays. Always has been. Early in '22 he boasted that he was meddling in the offense & this bit him in the butt when reporters called those plays into question. The _reporters_ may have wondered about this but The Fans turned on Fields immediately. But because the fans took 'Flus side then, they're not gonna admit they were wrong & turn on him now. So everyone is reserving judgment on Fields while Arthur Smith is permitting this by also sabotaging Fields' career with his insipid play-calls. Only with Smith, it's hard to tell if he's doing this intentionally or not. His play-calling in ATL was terrible. Notice though how everyone's sure he's All Better Now because he's Helping Fields. Helping him score less than 20 ppg? That's about all he's helping him with. *_All_* of Fields' best passes this season come on out of structure sequences due to broken plays. The ones that stick within Smith's structure tend to go for 7 yards or less. More great play-calling. Fields can toss the ball 40+ air yards with a flick of his wrist & is possibly The Most Accurate Passer currently in the NFL. Smith won't use any of that.
