The trip resembles the Monkey King (Journey to the West ) novel and
Records of the Western Regions book by Tang Xuanzang.
Tang Xuanzang travelled on foot for 4 years to visit India around 627 AD. His purpose was mainly to study the real Yogacara from Indian masters at Nalanda University. But somehow he went on exploring more places in India. His knowledge sharing has contributed to most Eastern nations and the rest of the world in various subjects, for example, cultures of countries along the silk road at that time, ancient India wisdom, Yogacara ( study of cognition, consciousness, perception, and nature of mind ).
Tang Xuanzang's translation of Heart Sutra (प्रज्ञापारमिताहृदय Prajñāpāramitāhṛdaya 般若波罗蜜多心经 ) is very short and to the point. It has only 260 chinese characters. It is a very careful translation from the original Sanskrit.
Journey to the West ( 西游记 ) is a novel by Wu Cheng'en ( 吴承恩 ) written in the 16th century. It is one of the Four Great Classical Novels (四大名著) of Chinese literature. It resembles Tang Xuanzang's difficult journey. Each character represents nature of mind. For example, monkey Sun Wukong - anger and impulsive (dvesha), Tang monk - humanly ignorance (moha), Pig - lust (raga), Sha and White dragon prince - obsession (lobha). On the journey, everyone has to work on his own weakness through difficulties related to his own karma ( consequences of his past ). After passing 99 obstacles and 80 difficulties ( 九九八十一难 ), the main characters arrive at India and gain the scriptures ( knowledge aka being enlightened ).
The Journey to the West novel is suitable for readers with far-easter background especially China. It's like that Ramayana, Mahabharat, and Bhagawan Gita are easier for people around Indian culture. If the reader is not familiar with the culture and intepret just literally, that's very danger even though it serves for entertainment purpose. More and more remakes of Journey to the West has changed the original meaning of the book.
Wisdom can be gained by experiencing difficulties or learning from a teacher. Going out to a tourist desert is a good idea to clear mind.
Heart Sutra 心经 (प्रज्ञापारमिताहृदय Prajñāpāramitāhṛdaya 般若波罗蜜多心经)
观自在菩萨，行深般若波罗蜜多时，
照见五蕴皆空，度一切苦厄。
舍利子，色不异空，空不异色；
色即是空，空即是色。
受、想、行、识，亦复如是。
舍利子，是诸法空相，
不生不灭，不垢不净，不增不减，
是故空中无色，无受、想、行、识；
无眼、耳、鼻、舌、身、意；
无色、声、香、味、触、法；
无眼界，乃至无意识界；
无无明，亦无无明尽；
乃至无老死，亦无老死盡。
无苦、集、灭、道，无智亦无得。
以无所得故。菩提萨埵
依般若波罗蜜多故。心无挂碍
无挂碍故，无有恐怖，
远离颠倒梦想，究竟涅盘，
三世诸佛，依般若波罗蜜多故。
是大神咒，是大明咒
依般若波罗蜜多故
是大神咒，是大明咒...
