This storm brought 3 waves of wet snow which accumulated to about 3 ft. It made for a good first test. Also had a boo boo which made for some carnage for us. We had some issues with it running correctly so if anyone has any hints or tr...

Another Way to Make Rustoleum Metallic: DRY FLAKING!
Переглядів 1,9 тис.Місяць тому
In this video we try our hand at dry flaking on rustoleum as another method that can be used to customize your paint job. This method is best reserved for smaller parts and pieces as it is hard to keep the paint wet enough for even coverage of flake or pearl. But it definitely works, and is much more effective than mixing pearl or flake directly into the paint. Products we used: Please help us ...

We begin the process of getting the 99 GMC safari van back on the road, by making it completely immobile. It was a real challenge and became a game of inches lowering the body and squeaking the drivetrain out and scooting the engine hoist back which was holding the body up. We rolled the entire subframe out below the body because we had no lift and didn't feel like cutting the radiator core sup...

It has 9 teeth
Great video guys! Im looking forward to taking my IMP out here in Sun Valley! Cheers guys and thank you!
Thank you! Let us know how your trip goes.
Wow, Happy New Year guys ! Beyond super cool, one of the best vids I've seen recently. Nicely done with the camera work. You guys seem to be total fun lovers, and why not, considering where You live ! That Tucker is a beast, articulated, crab walking, unstoppable, and priceless. Can't imagine there was an over abundance produced. Thank You for posting this up....enjoy !
Happy New Year to you as well! Thank you for the kind words, we are really happy you enjoyed our video so much. It certainly keeps us motivated to continue making the best content we possibly can. We are definitely lucky to live where we do and try our best to get out and enjoy it as much as possible and not take it for granted. The Tucker is definitely BadFN'A! We'd love to get our hands on some form of one eventually and build it into something custom of our own. Unfortunately even the not so rare models are pretty pricey these days and also very popular.
That looked like loads of fun……..happy new year 🎉
It really was, Happy New Year to you too!
That trackster is super cool and capable.
Thanks! We are going to try to make it even better in the future.
Predator 670 has a crappy charging system. When the voltage drops the carb fuel solenoid piston relaxes and the engine starves for fuel. After market mini 40-70 amp alternator off fly wheel kit will mitigate the marginal charging system... You can also pull the solenoid and plug with a bolt.
Thank you! Appreciate this information, really need to get it running better. We were planning on doing an alternator. What do you do with the wires that go to the solenoid? Also happen to know the bolt size?
@@BrothersfabNadventure Just pull the plunger and spring out of the solenoid and reuse the bolt. Tape off the wires
Awesome vids. Keep it up. How does the Tucker steer independent?
Thanks, we definitely will! The Tucker has a steering wheel like normal for the front, and a joystick for the rear. instead of 1 hydraulic piston that drives the linkage that connects the front and rear tie rods (pushing the turn tables in opposite directions) it has a piston for each tie rod and they do not share linkage anymore so the front turn tables steering is isolated from the rear turn tables which allows them to turn independent of one another.
The 542asc was originally designed as a snow compaction machine and were used for grooming many U.S. ski areas for many years before larger workhorses became available. The crab walk allows you to compact a full 8-8.5” path in one go. There are not a lot of asc Tuckers around that haven’t been converted to the standard circle steer of most Tuckers. They can be kind of interesting to get proficient at driving them when you can crab walk, front steer, or circle steer. 542asc machines are definitely a blast to play with though.
The 542asc is an interesting machine. Another channel I watch "BSF Recovery" aka recoveryteam owns a Tucker as well.
Well done guys 🤗👍 keep on keeping on...have great day
Thanks! We appreciate your support!
That's cute never seen one before !
They are neat little machines for sure.
Awesome adventure guys.
Glad you enjoyed it! It was a pretty fun trip and some great views!
Put a diesel engine in it keep the engine warm and you will never have torque issues again 👍
That would be a cool build. What kind of diesel would you put in it?
Awesome thank you for sharing👍🎄
Thanks for watching! We hope you enjoyed it!
That’s great you two are so dedicated to the LGBTQ. I bet your snowcat was rocking that night stay on the mountain. 😂
What is wrong with you? This is the most outlandish comment have heard. We are Brothers if you couldn't tell from the name of the channel.
I have to admire your courage. Rebuilding an automatic transmission that you didn’t see come apart. That’s gutsy!
Thank you! There was alot of time trying to confirm we had all of the parts needed to go back together. All in all it was a fun project and seems to work good.
I love the backcountry, before kids we spent a lot of time snowmobiling in Alaska, Canada, and even in Colorado. One of these days we will get sleds again. The only snow cats we have been in is the haglunds, my brother in law has a few. They do great in swamps and mud, but not great in the deep snow.
Thats awesome you have an enjoyment for playing in the snow! There's usually a haglund converted to a pick up truck front/dump bed rear that comes to the snowcat jamboree in march. Snow can be so hit or miss when it comes to getting off the groomed trail. We have a sled too but mostly incase something happens and we need to get parts out to the cat.
That was wicked cool! I've never done any kind of back-country snow stuff. So, in the snow, is "stay the trail" just hypothetical, since there's no impact on the ground underneath? Or are there just different rules, maybe about screwing up the surface, making holes, etc.? Is the Tucker better/worse than 2-track? Like "4x4" vs "AWD"?
Here most cats are considered sleds so anywhere a sled can go a cat can, including off trail except wilderness areas and closed roads. When off trail we all try to avoid digging holes (because it makes it harder to continue forward), touching ground or hitting anything because it can break stuff and we do not want to cause harm to the fragile tundra. Hard to say if the tucker is better due to 4 wheel drive vs 2 wheel drive but its interesting to ponder. Some people even add air lockers to their tuckers for even more traction. The pontoon models are known to float and climb better than the rubber belted and terra tacked tuckers. However they also have a TON of roller bearings that need to be greased every 8 hours of operation and they are expensive to replace. In the snowcat world there are many trade offs between the different machines. The trifecta is basically capability off trail, transportability, and speed. Generally you aren't going to get the best of all 3 qualities. We come close, but our ability to climb off trail is dependent on conditions. Not to say tuckers aren't dependent on conditions either tough.
Put some angle on that plow.
@AAA-nq6bo we did try a push down with the blade angled but it added up too much for the trackster to push again in the bad running condition. Hopefully we can get it to run better soon and can change plan of plow.
Awesome 👍
Thanks 🤗
Use to have a awd Astro van it was awesome off-road, really enjoying your videos 👍🏻
That's awesome, we are really excited to see how it does off road. it should be really nice having low range with the steep mountain trails surrounding us. We also have a rear locker we are going to be installing in the future, so it should be pretty impressive. We are glad to hear you are enjoying the videos, and we certainly appreciate the engagement and support. Thank You!
Had a few Argo’s cleats definitely help on the tracks.
Good to know, we had actually talked about how it could be cool to put the cleats from our bigger snowcat on one of these tracksters in the future. We just installed new tracks on the machine after doing the plowing since we had them.
Nice to see you putting all that dozer time to use.
Funny! We were thinking the same thing.
Awesome!
Thanks for watching!
maybe you fellers need a snow blower on there rather than a blade?
Would love to see that on one of these! Might be a bit heavy though, it doesn't have much of a frame but may be able to strengthen it for that.
@@BrothersfabNadventure build a subframe , most heavy plows and many true snow blowers do this to relieve stress and distribute the weight
i would have to put an diesel in it
That would be cool to see! What would you put in it?
A few more RPMs to the hydrostats wouldn’t hurt.
Yeah, that's what we were thinking! We took it out for some trail riding the other day and it was the same struggle climbing in the powder. Do you have any recommendations on improving it?
@@BrothersfabNadventure i think there are "performance kits" for the predator 670, some googling and youtubin should get you some of that!
That's SO COOL! I just came in from plowing with my 1st gen Rzr 800. My wife said, "Plowing makes you happy, huh?" It really does. I just need some tracks!!
Tracks are the way to go for sure! Plowing is funny, in one hand it is kinda like playing in the snow and fun. In the other hand it is a lot of work , even with a machine.
I think the Journeys lift kit comes with new bolts for the rear leaf springs. I remember cutting the original bolts rather than moving the muffler or the gas tank and then putting the new bolts in from the outside with the nuts toward the centerline of the van.
Thanks, we had the ebay kit which didn't have the best assortment of bolts or instructions. We just replaced them and ran them the opposite way also. probably would have been easier to cut the stock bolts rather then mess with tank and exhaust.
That looks like a fun trail, need to check it out someday!
Its a pretty good trail for a moderately built rig probably not much for the buggies but it'll be the closest place to test ours out when its done. There are also quite a few other good moderate trails in the area. Sorry for the late reply we were in the snowcat checking a new area out.
Try using out of a can rather than a spray bomb....spray bombs are quick dry
That’s a great idea! We’ll have to try that out!
This is a cool build guys. Keep it up!
Thank you! Excited to get it going!
Hey there. I have a 72 Bombi, do you guys think the jeep 2.4l 4cy would be enough power for an engine swap.
A 2.5l would be a little better than stock. If you were to want to go with a smaller motor look into what rockcrawlers are using, think it is like a 2.2 eco boost. In my opinion, it is a lot of drag on the drivetrain, need a bit of power to keep up, especially at altitude.
Man that looks like fun!!
These are pretty fun machines. We just did some snow plowing with it for the first time so look out for that video and maybe some upgrades to it soon too.
Great job guys , Woww !! Thanks for Sharing . From Dominican Republic.
Glad you liked it! It's cool to know we have a fan in the Dominican Republic!
@@BrothersfabNadventure Yes and I look forward to every video you are making.
Thank you! We really appreciate it! We will do our best to keep up the good content and maybe some merch eventually.
Great job guys. I hope the engine / transmission mounts work out well for you.
Thank you! We are very happy with them. They also look great in there. Nice job on making them.
Please help me. THe forward shackle on the leaf spring. Not the rear one.... Where did you find it??? I have been looking everywhere. Also .. your abs code is not the wheel sensor., Its the abs modual. Look it up. It need sto be resolderd.
You are looking for the lift kit spring hangers. You can find them on ebay or journeys offroad also sells them. Thank you but this time it was the speed sensor like the xtool scanner was saying. The code went away after replacing it and ABS seems to be functioning properly.
@@BrothersfabNadventure Lucky with the abs board. They all go eventuly. I am looking for a non lift kit hanger. Thank you for the reply. Love the work you are doing. New subscriber here 2002 astro cargo van
I've done this before, I used a cheap harbor freight sandblast gun to spray my flakes... it worked great for me.
That is a great idea for spreading the flakes!
That's a good-looking Comanche! I can't wait to see your progress with it
Thank you! We can't wait to get it done either! Definitely needs some cool paint once an new bed is on.
Looks good guys. Thx
Glad you liked it!
Seeing you guys work together makes me wish my family were closer
Its a dream to be able to work on , create awesome projects and adventure with the family. Glad you enjoy watching!
I’m not experienced with this. I was thinking about this a few years ago. Getting the paint mixed. Then adding flake to the paint to dip parts.
@briteidea08 we did a video on mixing particles directly into the paint like you are talking about. Here's the link. ua-cam.com/video/ZbFMwL5LoN8W/v-deo.htmle think dry flaking worked a bit better than mixing into paint because the paint is not transparant and will hide alot of the flake or pearl. Overall it works best to add them to an intercoat.
Nice job fellas. Can't wait to see your mom’s van next time. Keep up the good work!
Thanks for watching! We will definitely get it back in the van soon.
Nice job
Thank you, glad you liked it!
I have to do something similar to my van... any idea how much the front of the van might weigh when you're lifting it off the subframe?
We are not too sure on the weight but we had our engine hoist at the 1 ton position. The removal is pretty tight between the body and engine hoist but it'll squeak by as you start lowering the van body back down onto jack stands and pulling the subframe against the hoist and hoist back until you can remove the hoist. Also would suggest making a small cart to cradle the rear crossmember as you pull it out. (Worked alot better for us when reinstalling instead of dragging on the ground.)
@BrothersfabNadventure that's awesome, thank you. I've been looking for a video on doing this, and there's not much out there. Good video.
Glad we could help, if there is anything else feel free to reach out. Also good luck with your project!

Been following this series as I have a Safari 4x4. Looking fwd to you guys getting it back in the van.
Appricate it! We are glad you are enjoying the project. Next video will be the transmission rebuild and is in the works now. Then work on the video of getting it back in the van
Plastic intakes do warp. Triple check. Can't mill flat. Will leak air n oil. Plastic was to save weight and ease of molding. Triple check.
@burtonbird5518 We ended up just replacing it, think it was $40.
I am rebuilding a 4.3 that overheated. How likely do you think it is that plastic intake was damaged when engine overheated?
@russellj2987 pretty likely. They will be microfractures. A replacement from the auto parts is $40. So we replaced it to make sure. Would be harder to chase down that leak and replace the plenum in the van.
Watching this video is like a dream
It was like living in a dream for it. We love the big snows
Justin if you ever roll down hill , the avalanche of shit from your bed will burry you alive. Hahaha. Besides that, nicely done boys.👍👍👍
