Переглядів 1,5 тис.6 місяців тому
Non-Spoiler Review & Reaction for Episodes 1-5 of Hulu's new Reality TV Series "Vanderpump Villa".
This is by far my favorite role. However this was a character reminding me of Sherlock Holmes in that there's a huge of amounts of character here. Chapters worth which being a HUGE fan of Clint Eastwood, it was simpler to evolve into characters for Mr. Eastwood. That being said this Magic Man. This sexy consumer of our inner demons and thoughts.....is by heart a tru Actor of charming innocence to the very face a f a younger more whimsical version of the devil 😈. Yes please I would like to see a series 👋💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗
Dark Harvest was fab. If this one is on the same level, I’ll definitely check it out. Although I wish it were a bit scarier!
I think this Salems Lot is getting too much of a bad rap. It's super fun, despite its flaws. Can't wait to hear your thoughts in your Weekly/Monthly Catch-Up 😃
Really enjoyed this one bit damn is it hard to watch a movie with characters you just don’t like. I dug the ending and kinda wished it had been a series so we could’ve delved into a bit more detail with the concept.
It was super enjoyable and it was such a Rollercoaster ride. I'm glad we can agree that the characters just didn't work for us. Thanks so much for watching Lisa ❤️
I watched this one last night after seeing your review. I switched off when you said spoiler. It’s a weird one. It really makes you think. I hated all the characters 😂, which I know was the point. I loved the ending too. I did feel we needed more of a backstory on the sister and what went on in the past. Interesting nevertheless.
It’s available on Apple TV 😊
Great review! I actually thought they were revealing that the sister was the one who made this “game” with the team and Forbes stole it lol. But it was the sister in Forbes body. I was surprised but I wasn’t like blown away impressed with the twist. Especially cause I went in thinking Forbes wanted revenge and he was gonna do something bad. But it was the sister who wanted revenge. But I loved the film. I think Beatrice is just unhinged and yeah, addicted. This is hardly a nitpick but I wouldn’t have minded if there were two of the men and there was a girl in one body and a boy in the other and they experimented 😂. I was also getting Bodies Bodies Bodies vibes at first especially, except not with nearly as Gen Z/millennial whatever annoying characters as that film (I like both films lol). It reminded me of the movie Sissy from 2022 at times as well.
The sequel sucked! I wanted all of them to ride the platform down and have a potluck at the bottom of the building with dancing and singing.
If you are a true fan of the 1979 Tobe Hooper version don’t waste your time!!
I feel like if you've never watched a Salem's Lot - either the 1979 or the Rob Lowe version - you would be totally lost with the characters, but you can kind of overlook that because you know them through the other adaptations and that does make it somewhat easier to watch
Watched it last night don't bother absolutely crap, not a patch on the 79 version which was actually scary.
I woke up at 3 a.m. just to watch it, and I really enjoyed it! After nearly two years of anticipation, it did not disappoint. Some of the ideas were a fantastic surprise-scary, sad, familiar, and yet different. The charcaters felt a bit rushed, but...the movie is a great time. The opening titles -for me- felt it was for a TV series and not a movie. But again, It was fun, I watched twice already! Enjoyed your review and opinions very much too, thank you! YAy Vampires.
Thank you so much for your kind words! I'm so glad you enjoyed the film after anticipating it for so long 😄 Yay vampires!!!!!
@@lostinthereel yaaay!!!!
Are you kidding, what character development, there was practically none. The pace of the movie is one of the worst I've ever seen, it was all over the place and I would go as far as to say it's on a par with the Fog remake.
I can see why Warner wanted to shelve this. That's all I'm saying.
Awful.
Not bad adaptation, but not great either. Suffers for his hasty pace and lack of dialogue and depelovement (certain characters like Straker and Father Callahan are criminally downplayed). But they also build a solid terror atmosphere and the vampires are creepy enough, with certain scenes being pretty good and enjoyable. As a Salems Lot adaptation fails at many levels and clearly demanded much more footage, should be approached as a 2 parts movie or TV series (like IT). But anyway it was good enough to be released on cinematográfica as ita was a decent horror film, dont understand why Warner pushed back this one.
This was getting such great reviews out of Sundance, I was wondering when the hell it was going to come out! Sweet review you two, I will for sure be checking it out
Yes! It's coming out this week! I hope you check it out and join us for pur Spoiler Talk on Friday! 😁
For Tamil, I only gave voice for Nikki Role.. Such a thoughtful movie. M
Awww no. I loved the first movie. I was so looking forward to this. My expectations are definitely lowered.
The platform 2 isn't even out yet. How did you get to watch it?
Netflix screens certain films ahead of time for Critics. We were lucky enough to get a screener for it! 😊
Great review! I haven’t even watched the first one 😂. But it’s been on my list.
Omg Dan! Watch the 1st movie! Skip the 2nd 👀🤣
Definitely watch the first one! It's soooo good!
I heard this film stinks to high heaven & is another CGI crap fest.
Nah, it sucked. Slow and without depth. A waste of time.
If this movie ends up being good people need actually going to take up a complaint against WB. it's the same thing they did to the Batgirl movie which now has been shelved
The Batgirl/Coyote vs. ACME crap that WB pulled just goes to show you what happens when a phone company takes over a major movie studio. They prefer tax write-offs over artistic integrity. I don't care if those movies ended up being awful, the people who put their hard work and time into those films, deserve for them to be seen
Meh. Give me 79/04.
Totally fair 👌
WHATA SHAME AND DISRESPECT to the work of tobe hooper and his team,.....¿anyone has seen the faces of these actors to play de rols of salems lot? oh my word!! ralphie glick in CGI at the window with all the fog town in CGI....and the vampires of 30 days of night standing on the roofs of the buildings....oh my word
Awesome review guys, Shawn, you and morgan work really well together.👊
Awwww thank you Ricky! Appreciate you brother 🙏
The 1979 version took many liberties with King's novel but it is still one of the best vampires ever in my opinion. A classic. 2004 was a huge disappointment. This 2024 version....I'm eager to see how it ranks.
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on it!
I kinda figured that this is how it would be. A decent, but unexceptional adaptation. I really wanted a limited series version of this on Max, so that we could get to know and care about the characters. Im still going to watch it because Salem's Lot is my favorite King book, but I'll have to prepare myself for the change in pace. As for my favorite King adaptations, it would be other two versions of Salem's Lot, the original Pet Semetary, and Christine (by the amazing John Carpenter). Honorable mention for IT Chapter 1. On a random note, am I the only one who wants to see Mike Flanagan's adaptation of Salem's Lot?
I have a huge soft spot in my heart for Christine! Some great choices there. And I would LOVE to see Mike Flanagan do a limited series of "Salem's Lot", he would do it the ultimate justice I think
Unlike the two previous Salem Lots miniseries this one is a movie so they only have one hour and 49 minutes to tell a story of a book that has 439 pages in it... they don't get the luxury of having two nights which the others had an hour and 30 minutes each night
The problem with the American movie industry is that they want to put an entire plot in 1 hour and 30 minutes. So of course you will have half-baked movies. If movies were 3 hours, or even 2 hours 30 minutes, you would have a solid movie - plot, character development, etc etc. But, it’s America.
It's releasing in theatres in Europe apparently
That's what I've heard! I'm glad it's getting a theatrical release somewhere!
WB has a long history of over meddling in the production and distribution of their films. Yes this should be in theaters. I can’t wait to watch it. The 79 version is my all time favorite horror film/mini series. I watch it every Halloween. The 2004 version I watched once and that was enough.
Yeah the 2004 version isn’t for everyone 😂
WB is the worst... from completely dumping already completed films like "Batgirl" and "Coyote vs. ACME" for tax write-offs to having far too much studio interference.... they continue to show why a phone company shouldn't run a film studio
Warner Brothers biggest mistake in movie history.
No, that would be Zach Snyder
@@dannyb2783 Oh well it’s getting release on Cinema across UK and Europe. There’s a lot of generation x waiting to see the movie version. Me and my children. They saw the 1979 version now they want to see the 2024 version. I saw the 1979 version in the 80s when I was 10.
@@dannyb2783 Actually for Generation X it wasn’t Snyder talking about. It was how terrifying Salems Lot Toby Hooper’s version was. To us in the 80s this was new to us. We had no social media, internet. Any of the trappings you have today. Warner bros studio exes did this movie dirty. By trimming the 2024 version to 2hrs and not releasing the 3hrs the movie was supposed to be. I love the Gordon Lightfoot track and in the bar by Donovan Leitch track when Mike Ryerson was humming and then the track plays but I hated the blue filters and when doctor Cody makes the diagnosis of Danny Glicks condition of Pernicious anaemia the movie was over. The pace is so fast there’s no time to breathe. Did it have the same impact, truthfully, absolutely not.
Who doesn't want wall to wall vampires in their face
Hahaha yeah definitely fun
The movie got done dirty by Warner Bros being reshuffled after Covid, deserved a Halloween theater release as a lead in to Nosferatu for Christmas.
Completely agreed!
good review, I would have seen it in theater. Waiting for blu ray
Thank you so much! We would have loved to see it in a theater too! Hope you enjoy it when it comes out!
Your going to be waiting a while. Straight to streaming movies usually don’t get blu ray.
@@dylanshorrorchannel1378 I go to Chinese Blu-rays sometimes(Dinosaur Planet and Gamera Rebirth) they play great and are reasonably priced.
By not releasing it in the theatre they are denying access to many viewers. Could have been a money maker for the Halloween holiday. Stupid move.
I agree. I don’t know what these studios are thinking nowadays
I don't understand your comment. How is it withholding the movie from more viewers by airing on streaming rather than in theaters first? It's not even comparable how many more people can access a streaming service over a trip to the movies. Dumb comment.
@@luckyowl6432a lot of people don’t have streaming
You completely missed the point 🙈 not supposed to be funny - maybe research the reason it was made and watch full season?
There's nothing 'fun' about the book or the original mini series. I don't want to have fun either i want to be entertained and unnerved. Fun has no place in the horror genre🙄
Well, it can be done well IN VERY RARE occasions...Fright Night is the one always springs to mind.
You must be popular at parties.
I agree that I preferred the more serious tone of the book and mini series but the fun was enjoyable in this version. And I disagree! Horror is best in its pure form. But when they combine humor in just the right way… it can make it even better. Fright Night @jamiesalmonsculpture8599 is wonderful! One of my favorite vampire movies Shaun of the Dead is one of my favorite horror movies ever so that comes to mind first for me
You're absolutely correct. The fact that this is based on Stephen King's classic novel, the element of humor, should not have been added to the screenplay. This never should have gone into production as a film. If they really wanted to do the novel justice, they should have made it into a 6-part series. Midnight Mass is the perfect example of what the latest incarnation of Salem's Lot could have become. Fright Night is a classic, but it's a different genre. Salem's Lot should have a dreadful atmosphere throughout. There should be zero room for gimmicks.
Love your reviews Shawn but you and Morgan make magic together. Hope to see more with you two, not just this one. I am happy this movie is finally coming out, looks decent
Awwwwww thank you Mads! We LOVE getting together for videos and we promise there are more on the way 😉 Come back and share your thoughts on the movie!
Magic Shawn. You hear that haha yes ready for more reviews together. Always fun talking to Shawn about movies. Let us know what you think of Salem’s Lot and/or your favorite adaptations!
@@morganbarnett5608 Morgan we need to market you a little better girlfriend....
You work well together. Like two very good friends
Thank you so much 😊 appreciate you!!!
Thank you! We are very good friends and just love talking about movies together
@@morganbarnett5608 I never saw either of you before, but I kept enjoying your review the longer I watched. I believe you both would be very successful movie reviewers if you continued. You bounce off each other very well.
thanks for giving a balanced review and it definitely stirs my King antenna! sensing the salute to his book and the (to those of us growing up in the 70's )gold standard of vampire movies the Toby Hooper directed 1979 miniseries . Excited for this!!! ....."you pay as you goes".......
Please let us know what you think when it comes out! We would love to hear your thoughts 😊
Yes please let us know what you think of Salem’s Lot! And your favorite/least favorite King adaptations. Definitely some classic vampire nods throughout the film for V-nerds
Actually it is getting a theatrical release in the UK and Ireland and some other countries from October 11th. Are you aware of this? 🤔
I wasn't! But, I'm so happy you folks across the pond get to see this in theaters! 😄 Unfortunately, we just get a streaming release here in the US...
Oh that’s so great! Guess we’re gonna have to fly there to watch it in theatres
It’s difficult to do a competent review of this movie without realizing that Voyagers (2021) is a Sci-Fi treatment of the classic 1954 novel The Lord of the Flies by William Golding, except on a generation-ship in outer space instead of on a desert island, with sex-capable male and female teenagers instead of prepubescent schoolboys, and with no Royal Navy to step in with a deus ex machina at the end to save the day. Aside from that, it’s basically the same story, even replacing every significant character of the Golding novel with analogous versions among the adolescent crew, sometimes using almost the same exact dialogue used by the analogous characters in the 1954 book. This reviewer apparently does not know that, but he does a pretty good job in realizing what concepts the film is essentially addressing. The story is about human nature, not technology, innate good and evil, not spaceflight. It’s about the thin veneer between civilization and barbarism and the ability or inability, and struggle, of any human society to choose one over the other.
Anyone know if there will be a bluray release? It's been a year
I’m halfway through this and really enjoying it so far. I love Jeff Goldblum. He’s so effortlessly cool! Fabulous review as always Shawn
😢: Awesome movie very sad movie.
Godddd I watched this movie,... I couldn't sleep and when I woke up from sleep I was crying all the time..... It's tragic..... 😢
I avoided this for a bit and then picked it up on a whim. So damn glad I did! It's such an amazing cast! It was such an incredibly well-done show! I really hope it's picked up for a second season!
I'm so glad you did too 😃 It seems to be doing pretty great on Netflix, so I'm hoping they decide to pick it up for a second season. There is so much more I feel like this show can do, that can take it to the next level, if it gets to continue. Let's hope 🙏 Thanks so much for wafching!
This one is definitely different and thought provoking. The mind can certainly go to much darker places than the screen can show us, which is what I feel works so well either way this, alongside the lead actresses detached personality. Fab review as always Shawn x
Have you watched Red Rooms already!?
Disagree with this review. I think the reviewer missed the point entirely
I'd love to hear your thoughts on the show 😉 It just wasn't for me... and that's okay. I'm glad it's found it's audience though!
