Abstract
Most accounting systems separately capture and accumulate one portion of the overall environmental costs of firms, while the remainder is embedded in other cost pools, such as general overhead costs or administrative costs. Little empirical evidence has been provided to explain the impacts of cost accounting systems that make a larger portion of firms' total environmental costs visible. The aim of this study is to conceptually and empirically examine the relationships among the tracking of environmental costs (TEC) by firms, their environmental motivations, and the impacts in terms of environmental and economic performance. Using survey data from a large sample of manufacturing firms, the results suggest two main conclusions. First, the TEC has an indirect influence on economic performance through environmental performance. Second, this indirect effect is influenced by the environmental motivations of the firm. More specifically, this indirect effect is greater (lesser) for firms whose motivations are predominately business-oriented (sustainability-oriented).

Merci pour cette vidéo bien qu'on n'apprend rien de nouveau. En fait, le système de santé québécois doit être repensé complètement. On pourrait éliminer un palier de communication afin d'alléger les échanges entre les gestionnaires et les infirmières; par exemple: Et si on retirait le-s syndicat-s de l'équation ? Éliminer les façons de faire actuelles et mettre en place les solutions maintes fois établies dans plusieurs études, dont la vôtre. Food for thoughts.
Merci pour les commentaires, Lucie. On n'a pas trop le temps en 5mn environ d'entrer dans les détails de l'étude. Les politiques et les gestionnaires repensent constamment le système de santé mais rien ne change vraiment. Ce système absorbe environ 50% du budget du gouvernement (donc ne nos impôts) et une partie de plus en plus importante va à une sorte d'aristocratie médicale souvent multimillionnaires, alors que les infirmières de première ligne sont débordées, souvent mal payées, démotivées et en sous-effectifs. Selon moi, tant que l'on ne changera pas la façon dont tout cet argent est dépensé, rien ne bougera vraiment, peu importe les réformes adoptées. Ce constat aussi n'est pas nouveau, mais les politiques ne semblent pas avoir le courage d'aller de l'avant en prenant des décisions qui risquent évidemment de leur mettre à dos une profession très riche et puissante.
