Early summer in Spain | Travel Highlights from my first time in Europe
This May we travelled to Spain to spend some time with my parents-in-law, and visit Madrid and some nearby pueblos. It was an amazing opportunity to get out of the cold winter of Uruguay and soak up some sunshine, and experience a new culture. Part of me wants to go back, to spend every summer in Spain, but for now we are happy living here in Uruguay.
But here are some little highlights from the trip, it's fully just for fun because the music i added is accidentally copyrighted, but I love looking back and seeing the flashes of memories from our vacation.

A wild weekend in Montevideo | Learning to fly a plane
Переглядів 29314 днів тому
This last weekend we had the opportunity to see Montevideo from the sky, thanks to NovemberAir (linked below) and it was incredible. Sitting in the front seat of this tiny little plane and then being told.... Do you want to fly it? While flying above the city and going 200km an hour... It was an experience I'm not going to forget any time soon! If you're in Montevideo and you are looking for a ...

This is different from our usual #travel or #expat content but it is something I have been hyperfixated on latley, ACOTAR and fanctacy romance novels. So i decided to sit my husband Alejandro down and explain to him the entire plot of A Court of Thorns and Roses in less than an hour, so that he will understand the hilarious #acotarmemes that i want to share with him. If you're in Uruguay for just one day, or 24 hours, here is what I would recommend doing. Of course there are so many more things to see in the country, including Colonia del Sacramento and Punta Del Este, but if you are on a time crunch, then stick to the suburbs of Ciudad Vieja, Parque Rodo, Pocitos and Carrasco, to pack the most into your vacation. Everything from coffee spots, lunch ideas, ...

      Yes I have actually tried this but it is not really the same as tofu! It is a nice option to have, but I love it when tofu is nice and smooth and silky, and making this at home requires soybeans and a more powerful blender than what we have.

      Per RIDE so yea, if you go alone, thats $4500 to pay, but if you divide it between 2 or 3 people its much cheaper! But keep in min you cannot swap seats, so only the person in the front seat can actually fly the plane

    Great video. Be very glad your pilot did his preflight checklist. All pilots are supposed to do this every time. If they don't do it, think twice. I'm glad to know general aviation is a thing in Uruguay. Very cool.

    • @MaddieAle
      @MaddieAle 17 днів тому

      Yes you're right! And Alejandro said the same thing, I just only ever fly commercial and you cannot SEE the pilots doing the checks, so watching someone go through a checklist reminded me of learning to drive a car, and the instant though was "learner!" But yes, the checklist is there for a reason and absolutely should be used :)

    Any time I see those grates and bars on doors and windows, I automatically deduct safety points from my evaluation. Better to have them than not in such a neighborhood, but better to live where they're not such a necessity.

    • @MaddieAle
      @MaddieAle 17 днів тому

      Can I ask where you live now? Because every country has its issues. There is no risk of gun violence or VERY minimal here, and if you live in apartments many don't have bars because they have roller shutters instead. It's like a security blanket more than anything, and stops people from even thinking about TRYING to break in. It's not like south africa for example, where people scale walls and break own doors to break in.

    • @geezerpleasers_OG

      @@MaddieAle "Every country has issues" is one of the most meaningless, but predictable, things anyone can say about issues of personal safety. The key is what kind of issues, how widespread they are, how severe they are, how seriously they are taken by the authorities, etc. The only place that whataboutism leads is to a hole in the sand where the speaker tries to bury their head.

    It's hard moving to another country without a network of family and friends. The only thing you and husband should have done was learn Spanish first and try to find people in Australia who were from Uruguay. It will be difficult but you will work through it. I think it's easier for retirement population to move to another country because they have an income. If you are young and trying to move to another country and trying to learn the lunge, trying to find work when you don't speak the language. That is rough. Good luck.

We spend summers in piriapolis also. Safety living in a house has always been a concern for me here. Bars on the windows, cameras, alarms etc. Coming from small towns in England and Wales here is a very different feel indeed in regards to burglaries unfortunately. I experienced a break in attempt. Bars only slow them down. Easily removed. Good luck

    First off, my wife and I really enjoy your videos and can clearly tell that you both invest a ton of time on producing quality informative, but still entertaining content. We have been kicking around the idea of a move jn a couple of years to Montevideo from the US. We do have a school aged daughter (4) and would like to visit at the time of the year when schools are actually in session.Thought process at this stage is to stay somewhere during a trip that is close to the schools that have some level of English they instruct in. Would there be a good time of the year to visit when school is in session, but also when there is good activity in the beach areas surrounding Montevideo? We both speak Spanish (she’s fluent and I’m intermediate level having studied the language in college and living abroad in Mexico when I was much younger, but understand the rioplatenese dialect is distinctly different) Thanks in advance for any tips!

    Hello👋 Greetings I like your video.. very real definition about Uruguay I feel so related with your admiration for the sunrise. I am an Uruguayan woman living in Brazil Santa Catarina has almost five years ago. But, I have to said I feel so much happier in Brazil.. because I always believe that in UY there a depressive spirit.. (and at the same time something so pure and crystalline.) of course .. Something about my country always make me feel a little bit alienated.. like OutKast... I always speak my mind and sometimes I felt like a large %, were very angry 😠... Like there is a shyness about the vibe there.. So now with the experience of Brazil We're there's an stream of happiness goin on. I'm heal AND untherstand that, ( even though Uruguay is very progressive country for south America) And for example Brazil is "not that" progressive... In terms on spirit is much more open happy and joyous. In 10 days will be back to visit my dear family. I live in colônia is a very beautiful city super deep sky with a sunset in the Rio the la Plata every the most outstanding sunset..just magnificent... That is true magic of Uruguay for me ... The Bird. The beauty the view of Colonia del Sacramento is very UNIQUE . Gastronomía de primeiríssimo nivel!. Colonia if you have dreams of filmmaking. Or photography that's one o the places you want to visit. So, however.. don't let nobody of my fellow Uruguayan brother and sister disapproval stop you for expressing yourself and your beloved honesty! Many blessings dear P D my grandparents of consideration lived in Australia many many year I always felt very inspiring for Australia

    Hey! I am from Uruguay and I am sorry but this recommendation is nuts! October and November you will freeze at the beach. Weather is nice but you cannot pay me to go to the beach before January. The water in Uruguay is always cold. If you are wanting to go to the beach just come in summer. There are hundreds of beaches in the Uruguayan coastline, and you don't have to go to the busy beaches of Punta del Este. Just go to a less known beach. Also if you go to Uruguay for Christmas and New Years you can enjoy the fireworks and the beach also.
