Vintage computer restoration and preservation based in the Cayman Islands. Main focus is on Apple Macintosh computers but others are also included.
Complete restoration videos will be provided from logic board repairs, analog board repairs, plastic restoration process using Retro Bright, software restoration with blueSCSI SD cards to replace SCSI hard drives. Computers need to be 15+ to be considered vintage.
I specialize on board transfers for SE30 and Classic battery damaged or other reason to a new reloaded board. Various options for ROM and RAM are available. I also have many projects from others that I order and build for resale on my KoFi page.
I am not in the hobby to make an income thus I do not charge much for the work I do. As long as my costs and shipping are covered and a make a little for my time, I am happy.

Hey...c19 is backwards.
Glad your back is on the mend
It is getting better day by day. Tomorrow another Doctor appointment and some treatment so let's see. Thanks for comment.
Glad you're feeling better!
Great stream as usual Will. Lets focus on the hobby!!
Yup I always do and one of the only who do all this work on stream. The way it should be.
Yeh Programmers. Stuff coming home soon. Thanks Will
Yes I have lots of new stuff coming soon and your programmer ready also. Just need case color think you wanted white?
Allways learning something thanks Will
What does the TechStep use the SCSI port for?
To communicate with the computer and to test the scsi side of things.
I bet those capacitors are chinese knockoffs and not real vishays. I doubt if they were real Vishays that they would be that off. Those chinese knockoffs have really permated the industry and alot of suppliers are buying them and not realizing that there fakes. The ESR seemed to be in spec so Im sure they are new. I would recommend getting your capacitors from a reputable supplier like Digikey.
I get mine from mouser or console5 as kits. This was someone else’s board that I was trying to repair for them.
I KNEW you would fix it Will!
I was not giving up.
I would never have been able to get this working!!
Was loads of work. I am sure you seen the email I send you with all the things.
Stunning meticulous fault finding Will
Yes I was not going to give up and let this SE win!!!
Wow I can't believe those capacitors were mislabelled. I tested them with my meter and they were within tolerance. Don't get it!
Love the updates
This board was a very interesting and amazing challenge. Just what I like.
Love the name!
Ya. I had to give it a little intrigue to build the excitement
Wow That is some weird stuff going on Will
So good to see this. I'm only putting 2 Nubus cards into it. I have a good PSU luckily. Cheers Will
I'm going to grab one of these when the other bits and pieces are sorted. Cheers
More and more resistors!!
Yes. I find them go bad often so I make them available in the shop. Easy item to build and useful. Doing some rtc replacements now
looks nice. any plan on doing run on a fab print?
Not sure what you mean here?
@@CayMacVintage i am interested in one case, yet i currently do not have a 3dprinter; hence i thought somebody might do a small run of the cases or so
@@CayMacVintage i like the whole concept of compact case for se/30
@@JanCzmok I could print one for you depending on which you want and send for you but will charge about 75-100 for it and if the extra PCBs and such are needed. Keep in mind, you will need the SE30 Compact card that is $120.00 and a PicoATX & 12v 3-6a power brick.(amazon purchases). If you choose a floppyEMU version, there is a PCB that the 4 buttons on it attached to the front inside and you also have to solder 4-90 degree pin headers onto the signal leg of the buttons on the FloppyEMU and you will need 1 ground. The case version with no floppyEMU is much easier but still have the bluescsi you can add to it. So, I can print you a case with all the pieces for it, put in the brass inserts and screws you need no FloppyEMU version for $75.00. The rest you have to source and install.
@@JanCzmok A SE also fits inside so can be a SE or SE30 with the same case and the same Compact Card we make. I am working on a Compact card for the Classic & Classic II and will probably make a much smaller case as that board is TINY but the bad part is the RAM expansion card. Need to figure that out out how can handle it.
Looks great Will! The cable management system is excellent!
Very nice little unit
Amazing work
That looks awesome!! Nice job!!
Thank you. I will do a short on the internals once I have it done. Its amazing inside.
Thank you so much. -Thom from FujiNet
Looks great Will!
You need FLUX? Dig into your EMERGENCY STASH!!!
Hey Will missed you live but thanks its great to see. TechStep rules
That went very smoothly, looks very nice. I still can't see the chat with other subscribers on the replay. Cheers Steve
Hi Will all good re IIci. Why can't I see the chat window? Volume is OK
Not sure why can't see it. Will start the Iici tomorrow my morning.
Hi Will so many SE/30's to unwrap its like Christmas everyday!
🙏 thanks
Reloaded time?
@@SteveJones-zk7wx maybe but would be my first reloaded IIci.
Hi Will
Wow - Sunday afternoon and I'm still trying to catch up with your Saturday streams! Great catch on the RTC replica - had me worried, since I plan to use a couple of them. Really appreciate your work and sharing, but take your own advice and take good care of yourself as well!
Hi Will really found this enlightening. I need more magnification, patience and test equipment if I try to tackle anymore boards. BTW the SE reloaded is my assembly work and virtually everything apart from the Apple chips is new. I put in some extra bits for this with the board if any use. It has never chimed and I've tested the ROMS in another SE and they work OK. The replacement parts for the power circuitry are included. Many thanks
Yes its disgusting I know! was done a while ago when I had no idea what I was doing!!
I have to love this! Thanks Steve
Your board is done and working 100%. Just came out of the ultrasonic cleaner. Now working on the Iici. The SE will be a bigger challenge.
Hi looking forward to seeing you tackle mine!
Will be starting them today (Saturday sept 21) as I am finished with the single boards from others.
Hi Will like the videos but different time zones makes live a challenge. Keep up the good work Cheers Steve
I thought you were just making new SIPs but this is an even better idea. Will definitely stop by and check it out
Great job as always
Very cool idea Will! Can’t wait to see the finished product
Great idea. I'm also looking forward to VCF Midwest and I hope to see you there.
Thanks. Yes, it is something for the old days and can still use today. See you at VCF
Great work thats clever Will
Thanks 👍
Awesome! Thank you!
You are so welcome!
Great work!! Thanks for sharing
Thank you too!
That’s pretty awesome!!!! Nice job!!!
Thanks. Its a simple thing back from the 80s and truly can be s savior for many who can't find simm sockets anymore.
That TechStep unit looks GREAT, Will! Nice price too- 1/3 of what I paid for a vintage one.
What a great tool! Cheers, Will.
