God I remember playing this. My father introduced me to it when I was little, I remember the jump button just not working sometimes and I'd die because of it, it was so frustrating, but it's so nostalgic watching it again now as well, I'm gonna try to find it.

Wow... I can't explain how hard nostalgia hit me while looking at the gameplay and all the songs in it... I was just 6 years when I found out about this game. My older brother downloaded this on our 2007 Toshiba laptop and from then, I wouldn't stop playing this. Due to it being "hard" back then, I would always get stuck on world 4 due to the many tricky parts. Thank you so much man for bringing up this gigantic game back to its prime.

Something about this game feels so 2003 Newgrounds. I think it’s the compressed music, and the slightly too loud sound effects. And it also just has the spirit of young adults messing with the games of their youth without caring if it was accurate to the original console. Today, I feel like there’s more reverence when people make their own 8-bit/16-bit or low-poly games. Striving for accuracy and all that. I guess it started with Shovel Knight, that was the first game that really seemed like a real NES game. Or Sonic Mania, as far as remixing/tweaking an old game with new content. I guess the difference is that now it’s coming from a place of nostalgia, and we’re so removed from those eras that we miss their limitations. In 2003, video game nostalgia was for Atari and 80s arcade games. Anything between the NES and PS1 was just seen as old and outdated. I actually recall wondering if nostalgia would eventually shift to SNES and beyond. At the time, it was hard to imagine there would ever be fondness for the low-poly aesthetic, because it just seemed ugly and primitive compared to the PS2 and GameCube.

When they create this game, they use the music from Snes Mario Games. They also use those ALL quality items from Super Mario 3: All Stars. The game music that is mostly used is music from Yoshi's Island and Super Mario World.
