Whittle a Rabbit | Step By Step Tutorial
In this video, I'm going through the step by step process of whittling a rabbit figure out of wood. This one is a slightly bigger and more detailed figure compared to most of what I've done on this channel and therefore it's also more demanding. However, the basic shapes are very easy and beginner-friendly, so you can get a nice rabbit figure even if you decide to leave out some of the finishing details. Hope you enjoy!

Whittle a Sleeping Cat in 10 Easy Steps

This video is a step-by-step tutorial on how to whittle a cute sleeping cat figure out of wood. The project is beginner-friendly but in my opinion, slightly harder than my previous carving tutorials due to the more complicated body position of the cat. Still, this shape is hard to break mid-way, which is definitely a plus for beginners. Hope you enjoy!

U remind me of the werewolf carver
Yeah, I guess we use similar themes
It looks great! I love all of your faceting work.
Thank you
Once I get home I'll make this one and the shark one. Thank you so much for the tutorials!!
Awesome😊
It looks so easy with your skills and sharp Victorinox, but it isn't. Nevertheless, I'm going to try it anyway. Thanks professor!
That's the spirit. Glad you like it
I love your videos, have saved some for future reference. What amazes me is how you use the sak and only the sak 😮 i modified the small blade on one of my saks and am using it successfully, but i don't have a corkscrew on it.
Thank you. What kind of modification did you make?
@@TheMakerExperience search for "how to modify a swiss army knife for whittling" i did it with a file and wet&dry sandpaper, also kept the keyring loop as it doesn't bother me. Sak is a Hiker VX1.4613
Beautiful!
Thank you
A well made and explained video . Thank you
Thanks
А вівцю можете зробити?
Sure, I'll put it on my list.
Bonjour, Quel bois utilisez-vous? Cordialement
The wood in this video is goat willow, but I also use a lot of European aspen.
I really like this one, especially how you did the feathers. I like the idea carving out the texture with little cuts rather than drawing in lines or painting it.
Great, thanks.
I love it!! You're really talented. It ended up looking so pretty 💓
Thank you😊
❤
Very nicely done. This looks like a fun little whittle. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks
I like your approach of doing full body iterations to keep proportions consistent. It makes sense. I know from experience when we're beginners we sometimes will focus on one detail for a little too long, which can throw the rest of it out of whack.
Yeah, and then it's frustrating to redo that nicely finished detail just because it doesn't fit the rest.
My man! I'm glad I found your channel. Love your carvings. Subscribed.
Thank you so much!
Another beautifully finish piece of art. 👏
Thank you😊

Nice job, man! Thank you for guide!
Thanks. Glad you liked it🙏
One of the best mods I've made on my Swiss Army knife is to grind the cap lifter to make into a gauge. It works fantastic ! And if your SAK has a saw, it becomes all that you need to carve a spoon ;) It is of course an idea by Felix Immler ua-cam.com/video/GCQHlQCDr6I/v-deo.htmlsi=hSMRp2RWv_aokkLL
Thanks for the tip👍
It amazes me how you can turn a block of wood into a beautiful work of art.
Thank you
Thank you! I just found your channel with this video. I have been looking for content like this, Animals! Nice realistic basic animals. I have a niece who loves foxes.
Great to hear, thanks
I liked it🪚👏🏼
Thanks
Outstanding work. Didn’t know a Swiss Army Knife would be able to handle this kind of work.
Thanks
Cute cat with good anatomy. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks
This was my first time watching your tutorial and it is very well done. It looks like you use a regular Swiss army knife as your carving tool. Can you show a video of how you sharpen that knife, so that it cuts as finely as it does?
To be honest, I don't have much on that and should invest more into honing tools. All I'm using at the moment is a cheap kitchen knife sharpener
Itu kayu jenis apa
Eurasian aspen or Populus tremula
😮
this makes me very happy thank you
Great to hear🙏
I just got into whittling and I want to make a cat so bad but I know I'm just not ready 😅
Just go for it. At worst you learn a lot and waste a bit of wood. At best you learn a lot and have a cat.
@adrianbrooks686 is right. And even if the cat doesn't turn out the way you like, it'll be a nice reminder of your progress a few months from now.
Challenge yourself, you'll be surprised how well you can do....this is a great video to follow along with!
That’s a really lovely little cat. Great tip about soaking the wood too 😊
Thanks
That was a really good instructional vid on whittling with a pocket knife. New subscriber 😊
Thank you so much😊
Nicely done! Bonus points for using a Swiss Army Knife.
Thanks🙏
Thank you for sharing your artistic talent. Amazing how a block of wood can be turned to a piece of art.

@@TheMakerExperience my pleasure
what oil did you use at the end?
It's a mineral oil from Ikea called Skydd, but unfortunately they don't make it anymore. Linseed oil is a great alternative in my opinion
My hummingbird feeder gets a few zipping in and out, so seeing your wood carving so beautifully painted, I can appreciate their look even more.
Thank you😊
