Morning Glory Dulcimer - Adam Clark

My name is Adam Clark. My wife and I live in the Ozark Mountains in NE Oklahoma. We named our property Morning Glory Farm to remind us of the mercies of God being new every morning! My wife encouraged me to purchase my first mountain dulcimer about in 2019. I knew nothing about the instrument, but with much help from many of the teachers on UA-cam, and with practice, I have learned to love this instrument and regularly play hymns in my church. Hope you enjoy the music and that it inspires some of you to pick up this instrument yourself. It’s definitely good for the soul :-)

Playing this on the first McSpadden that I ever purchased. I tuned down the baritone to GDG. It gives a lovely contemplative sound. There is none fairer than our Lord Jesus. We know that the saints will marvel at him when he returns! Looking forward to the day.

Who made your dulcimer?
This is made by goldtone. It is called a Goldtone Dulciborn. They were only made in the year 2015. So you have to find them used. You can find them if you join some online dulcimer groups. Last I looked, people were asking between $600 and $800.

I've been playing a Dulcimer. for nearly a year and never seen a sixth String. Wow. Just wow.
It’s a lot of fun to play and you get a lot more volume out of it. When you pick it, it almost sounds like two instruments at the same time. Pretty fun for sure.

Thank you Cynthia. CGC has a much better sound to me generally. Other option is to get a baritone dulcimer which has AEA tuning or you can even take it down to GDG. It’s an octave lower than standard dulcimer. Stick with it! You will find your groove :-)

Hello! I have learned most everything from teachers on UA-cam. The one who got me started is Brett Ridgeway. He has a 12 lesson series that will get any beginner started off on a good foot! after you get the basics down, Bing Futch provides great lessons, as well as Steven Seifert who has his own website and offers online lessons as well as live workshops. Beyond that, I have been picking up songs by ear and advancing over the last 4 1/2 years since I started to learn to play. Hope that helps!
