I do controller/game console/crt tv refurbishing and repair. I like to make montage videos in my spare time, gundam kits have been the main feature of these videos.
Gundam Waterslide Decal Tutorial [In-Depth Guide]
In this video I will be demonstrating my process for applying waterslide decals on gundam/gunpla kits. The kit being used as an example is the MG Johnny Ridden's Gelgoog (Premium Bandai exclusive). I previously did a short tutorial on this and figured I would try making a more detailed walkthrough.

I recently got into gunpla and have been nervous about attempting the water decals. After watching this short video, what the hell was I nervous about. Thank you for the clear instructions and a start-to-finish no-cut video.
Are you able to connect the weapons onto the backpack? Or would it need modifications
@Kampfer740 you can connect the beam naginata or the shield to the back if you don't attach the backpack, I don't remember being able to store the rifle
It took me 4 hours. And I've never built a Gundam before plus I used nail cutters. Is that good?
Hey I got this because I didn't know it was a model kit. I've never built a model kit before. Do you think I should return it?
Do u need mark setter and softener to apply decal it seems on video that you didnt use both of em, is it really necessary to use them? I read on reddit some of builder use them to apply decal

Does it work on acrylic paint or pla plastic?
@marionotsonicnot9410 it seems most people recommend putting a clear coat over acrylic paint before applying waterslide decals and then applying a clear top coat after. I am not familiar with pla or 3d printing plastics so I'm not sure how it differs from regular model kits plastic material

Do those decals come with the kit or did you buy them separately?
@celica825 those are sticker decals that come with the kit, I did not buy any 3rd party decals for this one

@@marvicyanga00 nope, this is a straight build with the included Bandai waterslide decals. I spent a lot of time making sure all the nub marks were removed to the best of my ability

@GunplaV if you mean water slide decals, this kit does not come with that. it comes with a standard sticker decal sheet like most HGGTO kits do, that is what I used in this build

does it come with a stand?
@matriix18 yes, this kit does come with a small stand
If you afraid that sharp edges on tweezer may rip the decal or scratch the kit’s surface. Use wooden toothpick instead
@EukalyptusBonBon I stated to use a toothpick in step 2, although toothpicks can also damage decals if you aren't careful. the least risky thing would be semi firm q-tip

Did you top coat it after putting the decals?

@@arised_death oh how is the water slide decals holding without topcoat? I have the same kit and still thinking which top coat to use but cant decide if flat or gloss.
@@loiedonn4192 decals still looking as great as the week I applied them, if I were to top coat this kit I would likely end up doing matte. I'm not super big on gloss top coat unless the finish is metallic

it's an awesome clear kit, if you paint some accents they really pop through the shell. becomes a sweet showpiece, the stand it comes on makes it ready to display too

@Centzaurion it's a great kit, feels pretty big for a HG and has a lot of accessories. I recently got the premium bandai hg geara zulu and I can't wait to build that one
