Can Angus send E9 (UK scary trad) first ascent before his baby is born? Patrescence – Hazel Findlay
Angus Kille tries to make an E9 first ascent in the last few days before his daughter is born. Bringing this route to life parallels his journey of becoming a father (patresence). Follow his journey with the route, how to train for bold climbs, his thoughts on being in the waiting room of fatherhood and how his wife, Hazel Findlay, feels about the ascent and the risks involved.

Переглядів 18 тис.7 місяців тому
Hazel Findlay and Angus Kille talk through 10 tips for being a short climber (although really, this video is for tall climbers too). People say all sorts of mad stuff about height in climbing. Like ‘being tall is cheating’ (wait isn’t it?! 😉) or ‘being short is a mindset’ or ‘short climbers will never climb hard stuff’. Anyway, we’re here to set the record straight! Tips in order: 1. Myth buste...

The strength in those fingers is unreal. How are they not snapping off?
maybe keep quiet so he can focus on climbing
왜…..?
Great vid and fantastic looking route. I've looked up at that wall so many times, having been sandbagged about it's potential 35 years ago! I like the way Hazel says "I'm a climber too" - what, really ;) .. and congratulations!
this is so crazy
nevim, jestli bych do toho šel znovu...
Ain't no Ron Kauk,
Comments below UK trad vids will/must include - People who don’t understand risk mgmt People who don’t understand UK trad gear placement People who don’t understand trad belaying People who don’t understand that different countries have different rock ethics Every…..time.
Camera man prob did good to not film death but I’m annoyed
Nice send Angus - congrats to both of you and hope the little one is already on the hangboard ;-) Enjoy your first christmas together guys and hope your getting "some" sleep.
Dude, some footwork could make a difference
I see everyone talking about the climber (amazing btw) but props to that belayer! Dude smoothly went to the ground and you can even hear them worried in their voice! Awesome short, great climb and amazing belaying!
Bro place some gear
Not supposed to fall when on lead, wtf, jus saying...
To hard? Bro being kept off the deck on an E9 is a god send on its own
Sois increíbles! Me encanta la técnica y sobretodo la seguridad que brinda el de abajo al sostener la caída!!! Awesome….

He`s pregnant and about to deliver ....!!??
A li mortacci 😂
Thanks for showing your identity spiderman
I'm convinced he's just Spiderman with those funny little hooks because I don't see him grabbing nothing but a flat wall 😅😅
tiny crimps and holds that barely a quarter of your finger would find place
the moment she questioned him he fell 🙃
She's a E9 and 9a pro climber herself, that voice is very recognisable, but yea he's married to Hazel Findlay lol she's questioning as knows etc.
1 Meter more and you would been ground meat on that rocks dude holy fuck
Дебилы которые лазят такие вещи тредом..
Brilliant mate, hats off to you for even trying, that's like climbing a pane of glass
It's a job for me walking to and from to my mailbox on a gravel driveway
Get down from there
damn that's thin! makes falls safer - nothing to tip you over backwards. rope stretch, soft landing. reload. nice belay. calm day at the crag. very nice.
Bro
GO ANGUS GO!!!!!
Je m'en doutais tôt ou tard il va descendre en bas...
I climb, but this one would made me shat my pants
is this a quarry or a natural rock face?
Quarry from what I read about the route.
I hate her voice
If you aint falling....you aint trying!! Looks like right about where you fell is a great place for a bolt!
Always helps having an inane commentary when you're concentrating.
Lol can you climb 9a buddy like the innane commentator? That voice is so distinctive. That commentator is his wife aka Hazel Findlay, top lass, pro climber with Sportiva, Ex North Face, pals with AH etc etc.
Love the 3 bits of gear in A row. He knew that there was nothing for A while and risk of faling was real...

Where is ne next possible placement?
I love the clever camera angle making a horizontal surface look vertical. The “fall” was nicely done. Very Pythonesque
look at the horizon. there is only a slight camera angle
What?
@@martinr3167 I’m referencing a monty python sketch where they have a multi day climbing expedition up a high street.
@@Morhaw we're all individuals.......i'm not
alright Spiderman give yourself up we know its you
What is he even climbing on 😭😭. A smooth vertical wall
I was thinking g the same thing, there is nothing to hold on to
For one thing, the camera is being held at an angle so that the wall appears vertical or even overhanging, when in fact it is less than vertical. Look at the background. On a lower angled slab, with good, tightly fitting climbing shoes and strong feet and good technique, you can stand on surprisingly tiny edges and bumps and stick your toes into small cracks. The shoes have a special rubber that has excellent friction. With your hands, you can also use a technique called "crimping" to hold onto small edges. Mainly what he is using here are a couple of small cracks. You can see them better from the more distant camera angle. He is probably sticking the toe edge of his shoe in there just a bit at an angle and twisting a bit to increase the forces holding it there. He is also using some finger jamming techniques in the cracks.
Thats called slab.
Literally just said that out loud. 😂😂😂
@@burkeschuster4879 Looks pretty vertical to me
Как такое возможно......
My body is still tense❤
