    Don’t waste your money with Mariners Learning Systems. They definitely dump all the info you need to get your uscg lisc, but that is all they do. They dump so much info on you with zero additional support, follow up or guidance. They take your money and tell you good luck sucker.

    Thanks for the vid. I have a 1st generation LX 6/3. It's been a completely reliable, durable reel. Now, I have a couple of Daiwa Saltiga 30Ls and Shimano Calcutta Conquest 401s that I bought the previous year. Comparing them is easy. All three brands feel solid when you first pick them up but the Avet, at least mine, does not look like something handmade. In fact, my only gripe is that it looks and feels kind of cheap, especially when compared to the others which actually look and feel like purpose built, industrial works of art. Seriously, when I move the drag control and adjustments on the Avet, there is none of the tight tolerance precision or smoothness I feel with the others. It's got power but so do the others and while the drag is fantastic, the retrieve is nowhere near as smooth. I haven't really looked at the G2 or Raptor versions because all of my reels have held up fine but I'm considering give my current LX to my brother and checking out these newer ones out. Hopefully, they are a bit more refined.

      You can retake the exam if you fail, I failed the first time. If you fail multiple times you may have to retake the entire exam, I failed one section and had to only take that one.

    I thought that you could watch videos produced by Mariners learning systems, but from what I can tell it’s all reading the manuals. I want an instructor going through it with me not just leaving me on my own with a manual . And from what I can see so far I’m not impressed because I am going around in a circle just trying to take the free trial course. From what I understood I can watch it like a UA-cam video I’m not saying that. Reading manuals is not my best way of learning. I’m visual and auditory.

      I understand fully where your coming from, not everyone learns the same and sometimes it may take attending the school. The variety of video/ reading worked for me but I could see a face to face interaction having value.

    Are the lessons all like slide shows or is there videos of a person talking and breaking everything down step by step ? I went to a school in person but because I did horrible I’m school when I was young I panicked and anything I learn I forget instantly because I’m slow at processing. I can study and learn on my own a classroom setting just makes me very anxious and nervous of failure even tho I’d really want to get my license.

      The sections are broken down into many lessons. Each lesson is either an in depth video or a slideshow for you to read. The slideshows do have a voice over as well if you’d rather listen to it.

    How many attempts did it take you to pass the exam?

    • @themodernhook4655
      @themodernhook4655 2 роки тому

      It’s broken into 3 sections, I failed the rules of the road on my first round. Luckily they only make you retest what you fail so I studied up and passed it the second.

      @@themodernhook4655 are the questions on the exam similar to say the quiz questions and the module exam questions?

    • @themodernhook4655
      @themodernhook4655 2 роки тому

      They are very similar, if you take every test and pass it with no problem the exam shouldn’t be too hard. The only thing I would recommend is even after the Rules of the Road section go back and make sure you fully study the shapes and symbols for every boat as well as overall navigation.
