Trailering a horse can be overwhelming but it doesn't have to be. Once you have the right trailer for your horse, practice. Don't wait for a trip. Get your horse comfortable with the trailer, gear, and loading/unloading process before it's time to hit the road.
A few key safety measures to remember:
1. Don't walk behind your horse when entering the trailer
2. Hook the trailer up to the towing vehicle before loading your horse.

- Ask for help. Talk to others with experience.
- Show your horse an example by recruiting a horse who's a good shipper to show your horse how it's done.

- Train consistently by practicing several times close to when you plan to leave.
