Join us as we relive a month in the heart of Hopeland, an inspiring 7-acre educational eco-community in southern Greece. Together with 15 passionate volunteers from across Europe, we came together to promote sustainability, nurture community spirit, and create meaningful connections with locals and nature.
From hands-on eco-building projects and gardening to outreach activities with nearby eco-communities like Liveloula, this experience was all about learning, sharing, and growing. We embraced tasks like cooking, cleaning, social media management, and even feeding animals - building not just infrastructure, but also strong bonds with each other and the environment.
This initiative is part of Eyes Wide Open, a 3-year Volunteering Teams project funded by Erasmus+. This year, under the theme Green Generation, we focused on promoting community action for climate sustainability and empowering vulnerable groups.
Through reflection sessions, creative workshops, and daily rituals like morning check-ins, we built a space for learning, mindfulness, and collaboration. Together, we explored how to bring sustainable change while contributing to Hopeland’s vision of hope, synergy, and community.
