Little is known about this LCU other than the general info listed above. It was discovered in 2013 and rests upside down and in two pieces on a sandy bottom near Grande Island. The visibility is usually decent at 10-15 meters. It’s home to several schools of fish as well as a few ribbon eels. Blue spotted rays are seen quite often. With a bit of preplanning dive times can be prolonged by swimmi...
L2D Tabby - Subic Bay 2024
Переглядів 73 місяці тому
The L2D Tabby aircraft is a copy of the famous DC-3 Dakota / C47 Skytrain. They were made under license in Japan prior to WWII and were based in Clark Airfield during the war. This Japanese war wreck was used as a transport aircraft that crashed in Subic Bay during WWII. The plane lies upside down at 43 meters and is mostly intact. The cockpit area is torn open, making the seats and flight cont...
San Quentin - Subic Bay 2024
Переглядів 233 місяці тому
Our oldest known wreck, the San Quentin, was dual powered (wind and steam) and was scuttled in December of 1898 during the Spanish-American war. Her hull and masts were used along with two smaller ships to block the Americans from entering the shallow side of the bay near Grande Island. Mostly a coral-encrusted skeleton of her former self, she lies upright, 15 meters down, on a sandy bottom nea...

Designed and produced in WW2 by the US Military, the M3 Half-Track was used in various roles and had several different variations. As the name suggests, half of the vehicle (rear) was tracked while the other had wheels for steering. It was a work horse and used as self-propelled artillery and anti-aircraft among others, through heavy terrain. They saw duty in WW2 and the Cold War in South Ameri...

Able to beach herself and off-load troops and mechanized vehicles, the 100-meter LST-559 was utilized by the US Navy in the Pacific Theater from 1944 to 1946. She participated in the island-hopping campaign, earning 4 battle stars for capture and occupation of Palau, Leyte, Lingayan Gulf, and Okinawa. After the war, she was decommissioned and later scuttled (1947) in Subic Bay to extend the nat...
F4 Phantom - Subic Bay 2024
Переглядів 83 місяці тому
The F4 Phantom served as a fighter, interceptor, and bomber from 1960 to 1996. It was a twin-engine, supersonic jet and had a unique titanium airframe. This wreck of a Vietnam-era US Navy F4 Phantom jet is an extraordinary site for divers. The aircraft lies on a sandy ocean floor outside Subic Bay and enjoys reliably great visibility. We believe the F4 was scuttled from an aircraft carrier sinc...

In 1942 she was chartered by the US Navy and commissioned as the USS Majaba. While serving in Guadalcanal she was struck by a torpedo on her starboard side amidships and subsequently beached. She was later towed to the Solomon Islands where her...
Beer Barrels - Subic Bay 2024
Переглядів 83 місяці тому
When diving on Beer Barrels, don’t get your hopes up reading the name, there is no beer in the barrels… We’ve checked! The site is a series of large barrels in a sturdy cage, approximately 50m long, with one side being concave with pads. Although we don’t know the exact purpose of this structure, it looks to have been used as part of a floating drydock for submarines. Purely speculating, but se...
