    This is a torpedo, not missile. The beginning launch is a torpedo. The second launch out of water is fake and edited in. Ships launch real missiles vertically and only torpedos sideways like this.

      jmr1068204 you clearly have no clue about russian anti-submarine missiles

  • @Cg23sailor
    @Cg23sailor 9 років тому

    The first part of the video is real... the launch of a lightweight Antisubmarine torpedo from a surface ship. Not a missile. Then some clever asshat added in a fake CGI missile firing up out of the water.

    • @staeliamschipperreyes8934
      @staeliamschipperreyes8934 9 років тому

      Cg23sailor Actually, this is pretty clearly an RPK-2 Viguya being launched from a Russian ship(you can see the missile's tip at 0:10). It was originally a long-range submarine launched weapon, at the end of it's flight it deploys a torpedo. The Soviets(system dates back to 1969) apparently decided that making two long-range ASW weapons would cost too much money or something, and so just put 533mm torpedo tubes on their surface ships to cover the role.

    • @Cg23sailor
      @Cg23sailor 9 років тому

      Staeliam Schipper Reyes ABSOLUTELY NOT. The Starfish was a SUB LAUNCHED ONLY weapon. Not surface. What you are seeing is a 324mm (not 533MM) Mk-32 Internal Torpedo tube launcher on a American Ticonderoga Class Cruiser. Firing either a Mk-46 or Mk-50 Lightweight ASW torpedo. Nice try at justifying the fakery... but fail.

    • @staeliamschipperreyes8934
      @staeliamschipperreyes8934 9 років тому

      Cg23sailor Very much not so. The torpedo itself is visible when it clears the smoke cloud, you can see the distinctive narrowed head and shoulder of an RPK-2(or actually RPK-6 more likely), which is completely different from the head of a Mk-46 or 50, or really any standard torpedo. The Mark 32 launcher has three tubes, one of which is stacked and would be clearly visible if present. This video is probably from just in front of the helicopter deck aboard Admiral Chabanenko, the armored door and visible tube assembly mean that this isn't a Ticonderoga, their launcher doesn't have tubes that protrude past the covering, and is a single while two tubes are clearly visible here. while Admiral Chabanenko has such a launcher. Moreover, the angle is all wrong for this to be a Ticonderoga, their launcher is too far forward from where the video would have to have been taken. RPK-2 isn't a sub-launch only weapon, but I seem to have mis-identified it actually. This is more likely(unless very out of date) an RPK-6, which was used to replace RPK-2 on the ships that couldn't take 650mm launchers and therefore RPK-7. ACHIEVING ACCURACY: A Legacy of Computers and Missiles is a good reference, although there's plenty of material on the open internet that covers this. These systems were the most common Soviet long-range ASW asset, the Soviets weren't foolish enough to ignore an entire weapons category.

      Cg23sailor hate to pop your ego Mr. know-it-all "I was in the Navy a long time ago and still living in the past" sailor bro, but Staeliams story checks out on Wiki quite well. Shall I quote the last sentence? Yes, "However, the munition package used in either is identical and hence the ship-launched version is launched into the water and submerges before firing its engines."

      The official investigation isn't out yet but they suspect some hatches in the rear were left open. There was also a very new crew and the boat didn't have great stability numbers to begin with. Initial thoughts are the combo of factors caused the capsize. The owner was having financial problems so there is also some speculation of insurance fraud. Some people are speculating that the new crew was hired to scuttle the ship. I hope that isn't the case. Anyways, nothing official is out yet. That is just what I have heard from various sources. I have no idea how accurate that info is. Just passing on the rumors & speculation.

      You know, you ought to bless the existence of businessmen, like Stephane Courbit! How many people owe the very existence of their jobs to men like him? I wish everybody who thinks like you could all be placed on an island to experience the natural consequence of your own world-view. Every good job I have ever had the privilege of having had a successful businessman behind it. I thank God for them. Where would the world be without Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, or others like them? How many millions of jobs, or more, have resulted from their ideas and leadership? How many millionaires, even billionaires, have resulted? How many businesses have started, each with their own "successful businessmen" behind them? How much good has resulted from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, which would not exist without his wealth? If all these people, who you describe as having "stinking greedy hides" were prevented as you wish from becoming wealthy, the world would be a much poorer place. I'm glad you're not in charge. Unfortunately here in the US, we have a president who thinks very much like you, and we are in a death spiral because of it.

    • @mmastert2
      @mmastert2 10 років тому

      kevin arnold So based on your jealous logic, no rich person has ever worked or been a working man and to top it off, they're all greedy. Guaranteed, Stephane Courbit has worked harder than you ever have and still does. He owns and runs several lucrative businesses. How do you think he earned his fortune? By magic? And after all that hard work, he's greedy because he hasn't shared any of that wealth with you? Where you're really ignorant, is the fact that when a yacht like this sinks, it has a significant economical impact. When the owner isn't enjoying this ship, it's chartered. It provides employment for many including the builders, crew, maintenance, overhauling, retrofitting, etc, etc. It provides revenue at every port in the form of tourism, fuel, supplies, food, mooring, the indulgences of the passengers,,,the list goes on and on. Next time you receive your weekly paycheck, maybe you should thank one of their stinking greedy hides....Douche!!

      More often than not, the rich man has been a working man who has worked his way up there and employs lots of other workers. without such people there would be no employment for the people with no ambition. I do not however endorse the offspring of the rich who become 'socialites' without any talent or work ethic. I.E. Paris Hilton etc. We know the types! But someone with talent who works hard and contributes to society, good on them. They deserve their luxuries if they have worked for them.

      Paden Snell The canon on that ship likely won't operate on significant angles. A water launch makes sense, since when firing at a low degree would waste vertical thrust overcoming the initial horizontal drag.

    • @Mr.McWatson

      DJ Desu its not launching at a shallow degree though, it launches almost vertical out of the water.
